From rebranded classics to entirely new games that feel like D&D with different rules, there are a ton of D&D board games out there.

The Venn diagram of people who enjoy Dungeons and Dragons vs people who enjoy board games is pretty close to a circle. There’s just a good chance that if nerdy cooperative (or competitive!) games-to-play-around-a-table-with-your-friends is your thing, you’ll like it in many different forms. And for those people, there are quite a few options for D&D-themed board games.

D&D Monopoly

Monopoly is one of the most divisive games out there. I’ve seen entire family dinners ended early when a ‘fun’ game of Monopoly got a little too competitive. So if the game hasn’t been banned in your house like it has mine, this Dungeons & Dragons-themed edition may be a lot of fun. It’s branded especially after the hit movie, Honor Among Thieves, and comes with all of the little extras you expect from Monopoly editions, such as unique tokens and cards.

Dungeons & Dragons Horrified

Horrified is the infamous board game that puts you in the center of a horror movie. But this version has a D&D spin. Players must defend Waterdeep and the Undermountain from four legendary Dungeons & Dragons monsters, including the Beholder, the Displacer Beast, the Mimic, and the Red Dragon. Rules are easy to learn, replayability is endless, and the challenge will keep you on your toes every time.

D&D Clue

Another classic with a fantasy spin. This is the same murder mystery game, Clue, that we all know and love. Who’s been replaced by the secret devil? What weapon did they use? And where did they hide the secret infernal puzzle box? Y’know, Clue… Only you can play as a Tiefling.

Bedlam in Neverwinter

Jump into a three-part adventure that mimics many of your favorite aspects of D&D, but in board game form. Bedlam in Neverwinter has players investigate a series of mysterious disappearances in Icewind Dale. But what starts as simple disappearances leads to a much bigger mystery full of travel, battles, cults, and a trip to the Underdark. Pick your race, class, starting weapon, and start your adventure.

Adventure Begins

Adventure Begins is another game meant to feel like a D&D adventure in board game form. But with a recommended age of 10+, it may be the most kid-friendly of the games. Players will pick their character and travel through Neverwinter, meeting heroes, fighting monsters, and using magic. Every player gets a turn to narrate the adventure, so the game is different every time you play.

Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate

The Betrayal series of games is very fun and very unique. Your party spends the first half of the game building your location—in this case, the city of Baldur’s Gate. And then eventually something happens, and it turns into a cooperative game where the party is fighting for their lives. The last time I played, a dragon attacked the city. And with dozens of scenarios and ways to construct the city, you almost can’t play the same game twice. This—and its horror counterpart—are honestly some of my favorite board games of all time.
