Sometimes playing a game once isn’t enough. These legacy board games are for when you want a game that tells a story over several sessions.

Aeon’s End Legacy

Collaborate with your team and immerse yourself in this multi-session deck-building fantasy adventure. Each session will uncover more lore, and player choices will shape the course of that day’s game, as well as every session to follow, as you work together to defend Gravehold. The game and players will grow and evolve, but your choices can also have irreversible consequences.

Risk Legacy

In general, I’m not a huge fan of Risk. And before you start getting on my case about how it’s probably only because I suck at the game, yes. Exactly. That’s precisely why I don’t like Risk. But Risk Legacy is a different story. I’m still awful at it, but at least now I know my defeat will have still affected the world in some way. My legacy might be pure and utter defeat, but at least I have a legacy.

Charterstone

In Charterstone, citizens prosper in the Kingdom of Greengully. But the King has issued a decree to its citizens to colonize the lands beyond their borders. Over the course of twelve game sessions, players will construct buildings and work to turn them into bustling and successful villages. When you start out, you’ll have few choices to make, workers, and supplies. But as the game and story progress and your villages flourish, your options will become more and more robust.

Frosthaven

Of course. The grand mac daddy of all legacy board games is Frosthaven. It offers up the deepest level of tactical combat, overall grand strategy, city building, RPG character management, economic elements, and so much more. If you have somehow gotten this far into the board gaming world and you don’t know Frosthaven, I have a few questions about where you’ve been.

Pandemic Legacy

Pandemic Legacy is so good, it is not just one game, but a whole series of games. People bicker and argue over which is best, but honestly, they’re all great. Each has a unique story to play through and its own twists and turns.

What makes Pandemic Legacy so thrilling is the high consequences of each game. Because any city could theoretically go under at any time, it can drastically hamper your ability to progress in the campaign. In a lot of narrative legacy games, the players are “expected” to win. You’re the heroes after all. But Pandemic Legacy isn’t always so kind.

Betrayal Legacy

Betrayal is the infamous game of exploring a haunted house, uncovering its secrets, and eventually being attacked by a monster who may or may not have been your friend at the beginning of the night. As a legacy game, players return to the house as multiple generations of families, all obsessed with the house. Through gameplay and player decisions, you’ll create the house’s backstory, and when the campaign is done, the game is fully replayable.
