Some of the latest sets went on backorder within hours, but there are still plenty of new releases you can get right now.

Star Wars – SMART Play Sets

The new SMART bricks and minifigs are “packed with ground-breaking, world-first technologies” that allow builders to play and create in new ways. Pieces have a chip that’s about the size of a single peg and a tiny speaker built in that creates sound and light when used with other LEGO System-in-Play elements. The first round of sets is focused on the Star Wars Original Trilogy.

Pokémon

LEGO and The Pokémon Company finally teamed up this year and put out a trio of licensed sets (with more on the way). While the big Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set is on backorder, you can still snag two fan favorite pocket monsters. Evee has 587 pieces, and Pikachu is a more challenging build with 2,050.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (77093)

Capture the drama of the final fight set among the ruins of a castle. There’s a good amount of playability – reveal hidden treasures (including three Recovery Hearts hidden in the rubble), raise Ganondorf, and take the fight against Ganon to new heights with flight stands that attach to the crumbling castle tower. Ganondorf bursts from the ruins with a touch of a button.

  • 1,003 pieces
  • 3 minifigures – Link, Princess Zelda, Ganondorf
  • 6.5 in. (17 cm) high, 11 in. (29 cm) wide, and 7 in. (18 cm) deep

Technic / Speed Champions / City

There are a bunch of car-focused sets out this month, with the big release being the latest F1 Championship car. The MCL39 features working steering, suspension, gearbox, and differential. Reveal the detailed V6 engine by activating the Drag Reduction System in the rear spoiler and removing the engine cover. The set includes a display plaque with car details.

Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel (40955)

This isn’t the first time the shipping company has teamed up with LEGO, but this is the first set featuring this particular ship (they’ve also made trucks and trains). This container ship has a bridge that opens to reveal crew quarters with a navigation map. It also has transparent engine-room windows, slide-out gangways, and buildable containers.

  • 1,516 pieces
  • 7 in. (18 cm) high, 23.5 in. (60 cm) long, and 4.5 in. (12 cm) wide

LEGO Batman

This year marks the 20th anniversary of LEGO Batman, and there are several celebratory sets. Build the iconic logo with this set that you can hang on your wall. It contains easter eggs from across the Batman range, including Batarangs, Harley Quinn’s hammer, and what looks like the Penguin’s top hat. There are also three new Speed Champions scale Batmobiles inspired by the movie versions.

ICONS

This month added a movie-inspired spaceship, the first mass production car, and the biggest bad of the Lord of the Rings trilogy to the ICONS line. The first LoTR helmet set LEGO has released is a detailed crown of spikes that captures the menacing, evil look of the one Sauron wears in the movies. The set also includes a Sauron minifigure holding The One Ring and a display stand with a plaque.

IDEAS / Botanicals / Art

My favorite out of the nature-themed sets is the adorable mother sea otter with a pup (or cracked clam). The pair floats on the water. You can pose mama’s head, mouth, flippers, and claws. A perfect way to bring some calm and super cuteness to your day.

LEGO Disney / Brickheadz

The most anticipated set of the new Disney sets is definitely Winnie the Pooh. The 1,399 piece set includes a posable, 9-inch tall Pooh-Bear, plus a honey pot that opens up to reveal his home under the tree and two smaller characters.
