Goatboy here again to look at the past and see some of the old 40K Drukhari characters that should come back in 11th Edition.

We just had Old Man Yarrick come back from the dead so why can’t some of the old Dark Eldar villains get “regrown” in the clone vats of Commorragh?  Let’s talk about some of the old characters from 40K yore, and what I would do if they came back with some new rules.

Lord Hellion Baron Sathonyx

GW Rules only (no mini) introduced 5th Edition

The poor Baron never had a model and was built usually from a Hellion figure with some extra bitz tacked on.  The old fluff had him carrying a Farseer set of bones that he would use to get a bonus to trying to seize the initiative.  Back in the day you would set up your army based on who was going first and then the playing going second could roll a dice and on a “6” they could seize the initiative and go first.  It would end up having you as a player always planning on going second when setting up but sometimes you would just get wrecked.  This guy was part of that whole going first mess and while we don’t have Seize we could create some kind of character that would probably make Hellions Battleline and give you a redeploy type of option to match up in the new game.  Heck you could even do something that lets him give the unit he joins a +1 to their strength and damage when they charge in or maybe some super cool drugs.

Kheradruakh the Decapitator

GW Rules only (no mini) introduced 3rd Edition

This was the Mandrake special character that was like a boogie man in a horror movie for the Dark Eldar.  He would rise out of the shadows, decapitate his target, and then melt away.  It was a wild time when we got plastic Mandrakes and didn’t have this guy show up.  I would give him some kind of Lone Operative power, precision on his strikes, and anti-infantry 4+ with devastating wounds.  He would probably be a damage 3 monster and just do all kind of fun up and down nonsense as a crazy boogie man.

Duke Sliscus

GW Rules only (no mini) introduced 5th Edition

Here is the poison guy who loved his venoms, had a bunch of troopers, and just was an interesting Battleline based leader. He’s also the Deep Strike king, and granted it to any Venoms, Raiders, and Ravagers.  I think having another one of these type of shooty/maneuver leaders would be cool and you could build him with an updated Court of the Archon to bring them both back.  I think this is just a cool simple one that would match up into something like the Maesters of the Maelstrom from CSM.  You would give a bunch of cool little abilities and some fun damage dealing aliens mixed in.

Urien Rakarth

Lost alongside Finecast in 10th Edition

This guy is old, coming from 3rd Edition, and hasn’t been gone that long and I think it is a shame he isn’t around.  Just like the Duke I would set up another “court” for the game with a ton of Grotesques to run around with the true creepy uncle of the Dark Eldar army.  This guy definitely has a puzzle basement and probably collects all kinds of creepy dolls.  He would be one of the other horror movie monster designs that could be a really neat update for the Dark Eldar.  You don’t need to leave this type of design for Chaos and instead push this into the Dark Eldar realm and create some really unique characters that are just begging to be painting up.  I have no doubt Rakarth will be back soon enough.
