Old Hammer 40K – Where Are The Chaos Legion Super Heavies?
Goatboy here and it’s not fair that only one of the Chaos Cult armies have a giant unit of destruction. The World Eaters Lord of Skulls showed up in July 2013, and 13 year later it the only Chaos superheavy in the game! Here’s what the other three Cult Legions need!
The World Eaters Lord of Skulls is the only big giant kit for the Chaos based armies. I know that all of them have their Primarch but where are they giant old Apocalpyse kits? Let’s look at what could have happened if GW decided to go full hog into the ole EPIC line of crazy giant centerpiece kits. Here’s to hoping that some of these show up in 11th Edition!
Nurgle Plague Tower – Death Guard
Let’s start with the one a lot of players remember. The Nurgle Plague Tower is a giant tank like option that resembles an old Siege weapon. It rolls around on a bunch of wheels and is built like a Giant tower. It rolls up, vomits out some Nurgle nonsense, and probably throws a crap ton of Plague Marines at you. It is a pretty gnarly old EPIC kit and I would think GW could base it off of a Land Raider bottom, throw in a cool looking tower part, and then cover it in bulbous rot and cancerous boilers of despair. GW even made a datasheet for it in Apocalypse in 2008!
Subjugator – Emperor’s Children
Next up we could have a really simple design for Slaanesh that powers up a Chaos Knight body with giant pincer claws, some creepy looking head, and probably some skin leggings. The Slaanesh Subjugator is a weird EPIC kit that resembles the old design of a Titan Walker that is stretched out a bit. It is supposed to be quick and nimble as it runs around the battlefield and makes you feel uneasy. I would expect it would be secreting a ton of drug fumes as it would drive the Emperor’s Children units crazy with all sights and smells it is releasing. Again, GW made rules for it in Apocalypse in 2008!
Silver Tower – Thousand Sons
Finally we have a Thousand Sons option in the Silver Towers. It is floating battle castle designed to rain down magical fire power. It would float around the table top throwing out a cascading wave of damage and destruction. I think the picture we have now of the old Epic Model is a bit tame but I could see GW designing something that would look weird with floating options, lightning effects, and probably a ton of Wizards flying around it.
It would be so cool to see some new super Chaos Cult superheavies on the tabletop, just to keep the Lord of Skulls company. Maybe if the new Apocalpyse brings some new players to the game GW might make that giant super heavy plastic kit. We have heard rumors about a plastic Warhound but what if it was a cool Nurgle Plague Tower instead?
