Later this year, we’ll get to dive into a new edition of the swashbuckling RPG, 7th Sea, thanks to a smashingly successful crowdfunding campaign. As the Kickstarter heads into its final day (with 23 hours left at press time), there’s still time to get in on the backer exclusives and other goodies you’ll find as part of the newly revamped edition of the popular Swashbuckling & Sorcery RPG.
Because the 7th Sea 3rd Edition Kickstarter isn’t just a new edition, it’s a return to form. With inspiration from the 1st Edition, and a bunch of new mechanics to play with, there’s a lot to swing into. And little time to do it.

If you’re completely unfamiliar, 7th Sea is an RPG set roughly during the golden age of sail and piracy – it’s a world that resembles our own, though with many key differences. Like magic. But sorcery isn’t the only thing that defines the world – skilled swordfighters and daring duelists carve a path across the tumultuous history of the world. And you take the center stage as the main character in a grand swashbuckling adventure.
The 3rd Edition is designed around two main keywords: “heroic” and “cinematic.” Meaning the designers want to get back to the grand adventure and the almost pulpy feel of the derring-do of the 1st Edition, but with modern design sensibilities. Can the two mix? The designers at Studio Agate seem to think so.

As part of the campaign, you can of course get the main corebook. But you’ll find a Starter Set, some setting books, and a whole lot more as part of the Kickstarter. This means a lot more maps and some web supplements that are unlocked for any who back at any tier.
