Get weird, wild, and truly alien with the newly released Galactic Ancestries sourcebook for Starfinder 2nd Edition with 21 new playable options!

Starfinder 2nd Edition is already full of aliens that are exactly the kind of weird alien you’d want to play in a sci-fantasy RPG. I mean, sure, you can play as a humanoid alien. Boring. Basic. Nothing wrong with it, but it’s been done to death a dozen times over. Starfinder 2E, on the other hand, is a game where you can play as a space rat, an alien jellyfish that can rewrite its genetic code, or just a giant brain.

And that’s in the core stuff. With the new Galactic Ancestries sourcebook? It wants to get even weirder and wilder. Which, again, I’m all for. This book will expand Starfinder even further, adding some 21 new alien ancestries to the mix.

Starfinder: Alien Ancestries – Available Now

You might be wondering, how does it get much weirder than DNA-recompiling space jellyfish. And that’s a fair question. But in Galactic Ancestries, you’ll find a host of new intergalactic options. Including a “sentient rollerball” or a miniature sun.

But in addition to the new ancestries, there are more options for the existing ones too. Because Pathfinder and Starfinder can cross-pollinate now. Which means that, technically, anything you can play in one, you can play in the other.

And you know what that means: Space Gnomes.

“This 224-page rulebook is packed full of playable alien ancestries for Starfinder Second Edition games, including 21 brand new options like the lucky blue worlanisi, sentient rollerball bantrid, or even a blazing miniature sun called a novian. In addition to this intergalactic cast of science-fantasy species are a host of stellar options for familiar ancestries, including Starfinder favorites like reptilian vesk and insectoid shirrens, and fantasy classics like gnomes, elves, and goblins in space! On top of that, the brand-new Gap-touched versatile heritage connects players to the history-breaking event at the heart of the Starfinder setting while giving them special abilities, and the xenometric android allows readers to create robotic versions of any Starfinder alien, not just humans!”

So sneakily, this is also a Pathfinder 2E release. Which is a little strange if you find yourself playing an Elf and a Robot Elf and a Space Elf all in the same party. But you can. And, knowing my friends, that’s probably exactly what’s going to happen.
