Warhammer 40K: So, What Should You Do With Your Old Neoprene Objectives?
With 40K 11th Edition on the way with an all new objective rules – what are we supposed to do with all our old neoprene markers?
As someone that has a lot of fine succulent neoprene markers I was a little bit sad with the upcoming changes to how we “create” objectives on the battlefield. I get the reason for GW to change stuff and understand how it doesn’t look very wargame like. I am just sad I don’t get to see my shining art on the table tops and on some streaming platforms. Today I want to ask what should we do with them?
Old School Computing
The first and most obvious one is to just use them as mousepads. I don’t know how good they will end up being as their size is a bit weird for some people and their need for a lot of room to swing that mouse around but it should still work. That soft neoprene, the weird piece of art in the middle, and the desire to be productive would be one of the reasons to keep them around. Still how many mouse pads do you need if you just work from home.
The “Objective Toss”
The next thought would be to create an event at a tournament that has players see how far they can toss their objective. You could give some cool new prizes for it like what will most likely replace those objective pads in challenge coins or other small things to place in a terrain piece. You could make it a whole big with a leader board to showcase to other events on who chunked theirs the furtherest. It’s like an old school Texas cow-patty toss, but more grimdark.
Haute Couture
How about you create some fashion forward outfits! You create a cool shawl full of all the objective markers you have. If you have enough you could have a cool cloak as well. Or if you want to be daring you could create a battle loin clothe like your favorite Fireslayer. An awesome kilt would be great to build as well if you wanted to have some fun. Or you could build a hat to be the best edgelord or a top hat to show case your magical dice rolling skills.
Dice Box of Dreams
Finally you can line a dice box with your old objective markers and create a cool dice rolling box. You can cut them into pieces and create a mosaic of your old battles and the dreams of 10th edition. I did think buying an old wooden box and setting one up as my own personal little dice rolling box.
What are you going to do with yours? Keep them as a reminder of the good ole days? Practice to be the best “neoprene tortilla” thrower out there? I’ll toss mine in my drawer of 40K Blast/Flamer Templates. *sniff*
