Warhammer 40K Top 5 Things We Need From 11th Edition
The cat is out of the bag and 40K 11th Edition is coming later this year. Here’s the top 5 things we need to see when the updated game lands!
The cat is out of the bag and will get a new version of 40K later this year. I am very excited as I think 10th has really locked into a good place right now so if GW isn’t reinventing it and instead refining it I think will have a hit competitive miniatures game. Or I hope we at least get a ton of new Chaos models. Here is the list of the 5 things I hope we see from the new edition beyond the tidbits we got in the preview. There was so much stuff said and I am excited GW really pulled the curtain back a bit to let the players check it out. I can’t wait to see the new boxed set as the two little previews and video has me hoping we get some really awesome Ork stuff. Heck I might finish up my 4th Ork Army update finally.
These are in no particular order and just a list of the things I thought about as I watched the GW stream.
5 – Let the 11th Edition Boxed Set Finally Include a Mini Rulebook
In earlier editions (like 2008’s Assault on Black Reach) there was a time when GW would release a mini rulebook in a boxed set. It would be an awesome bit of paper that you could take from event to event and let you have a quick access to the rules – especially if your phone died or the internet wasn’t up to snuff at the location. I know the last edition saw some massive changes from the printed book to what we actually played but I feel a mini book with this edition should stand well enough to be useful for at least a few years.
4 – Character Creator From Campaign Book In the App
I really like the idea of character creation added to the actual competitive game. The big talk was kind of syncing up the games completely with Narrative and Competitive playing the same game. I would love this bit of extra fun to be added to the game and become a part of my favorite video game app on my phone.
3 – Streamline Primary and Secondary Objective Scoring
I know will still have Primary missions but I would love for the game to be set up in a way to allow for chances to come back, easier options to score, and just a better overall experience trying to win the game. The scoring mechanics can always be a pain and we have had GW try a few times to bring some kind of come back mechanic so I hope this new version has some of this in the game and still let player skill rule the way we score points.
2 – Make it Easier to Access Army Rules on the App – DURING Gameplay
I don’t know how they can make this easier but having to look at your opponents phone for rules or going to a 3rd party website can be a pain. I would love some way to get access to rules I don’t own at least for a little bit. It would just be great to have some kind of sharing or other options available to allow players all the info as they play the game.
1 – Goat-based Armies Should Be Better! 🙂
Look I just need something that has me bring back to the Space Goats. Give me a cool little mini detachment that gives any Goatheaded miniature extra rules. Do it for the Goatboy please!
Are there any dreams you might have beyond some really cool armies or a new Daemonic Primarch? Should GW bring back the old dice rolling App and add it to the main Warhammer App? What about adding cool sound effects to the GW App to allow for a more immersive experience?
What things are you hoping show up in this new update to 40K?
