Warhammer 40K: You Should Be Excited for the WAZZDAKKA!
Goatboy here with some thoughts on the rules for the new 40K 11th Edition WAZZDAKKA model. Let’s talk about what has me excited for our newest Ork character.
It is pretty wild that we got a new model for this older Ork character. I am hoping we see some more models come out like this and we could get an old Ork Pirate character at some point. This new model is pretty gnarly and his rules even match. Let’s talk about what has me excited for this new character.
WAZZDAKKA Gutzmek – Da Basics
First let’s go over the initial rules for WAZZDAKKA. We’ll start with the basic core rules set up of Deadly Demise D3, Deepstrike, and Lone Operative. Those are 2 really good rules and just a common one to showcase this guy is a vehicle. I love this guy has Lone Operative so he can easily just deploy a bit out there and then adding deep strike on top of it gives him some pretty fun interactions. This is especially true with some of his other rules he gets.
From there we can look at his base offensive output. He has a single shot, BS 2+, Damage 3, and Strength 10 grabba klaw thing. That is wild to see an Ork hitting on 2’s with a shooting weapon. Then he even has a pile of shots with his Psyko-Gatler that hits on 4’s, has 12 shots, Sustain Hits 1, Strength 6, Ap -2, and damage 2. Both of these guns have Assault and the Grabba even has precision. This guy is going to come at you and punk out a leader pretty easily.
On the close combat side of things he has a Power Klaw like any Good Ork should have. It’s a Lance close combat weapon that hits on 2’s, damage 3, and strength 10. He throws out 6 of those attacks which is pretty spicy. He also has some extra attacks from his Grot friend and his vehicle that can throw out a few more points of damage.
He has all of this on a frame that can move 14” plus a few more depending on his role he picks during the command phase. He also is sitting with an 8 toughness, 10 wounds, and a 3+ armor save and a 4+ invulnerable save. This isn’t too bad and when you mix it with one of his extra rules that lets him heal d3 wounds a command phase and he can be a weird pain in the butt to deal with.
WAZZDAKKA Gutzmek – Da Funky stuff
The next batch of interesting rules is what makes him fun. The new method of character creation from GW is to give your character a bespoke 3 set of rules to pick form in the command phase. This is called his Throttlerokkit Shooka Engine that lets him “super charge” himself in some way. The first gives him Advance & Charge. The second one lets him get the ability to go up and down. The final one lets you get a flat 6” move to your advance and you can go thru and ignore terrain features. I think the first and second one will be used most of the time and is a powerful option.
The final rule and one of the more important rules is he grants the Warbikes the Battleline keyword if he is your warlord. This is pretty gnarly and lets you create a pretty wild Ork Warbiker army. I think it might have some legs as it is pretty fast and I am sure will get an amazing Ork Detachment that utilizes this nonsense. You got a ton of tough guys that move fast, hit somewhat hard, and might cover the table in nonsense.
WAZZDAKKA Gutzmek – Da Verdict
Overall I give this guy a solid A as his rules are pretty good. It will depend on what his points end up but if he is aggressive costed like the Nekrosar dude from the Necrons was he will be a good bit to have in your army. He moves fast enough and hits hard to show up just about anywhere.
WAAAGH!!!
