Eight new subclasses abound in the viking-flavored Northlands Bundle from Kobold Press, now available on D&D Beyond.

Kobold Press brings its Northlands “campaign overlay” to D&D Beyond in the form of two new books, which you can get in a single bundle or individually. What is a campaign overlay exactly? We’ll get into that in a second. But first, let’s talk about the Northlands. As the name implies, the Northlands is basically a setting for all your fantasy Viking urges. You wanna raid? Have a holmgang? Kobold has got you covered.

In fact, the two books of the Northlands Bundle give you both the campaign setting/overlay as well as a bunch of adventures to play through. Of course, with anything this flavorful and specific, there are many new rules. And perhaps most exciting of all, eight new subclasses, rich with all the vaguely-nordic flavor (which is probably saltier than you expect? I dunno salted licorice is a thing, it’s not for me, but people like it) you could want.

Kobold Press’ Northlands Bundle – Two Big Books Packed With ‘The North’

There are two books from Kobold Press’ “Northlands” on D&D Beyond right now. First is the Northlands Sagas, which is a campaign that takes you from levels 1-12. It has all the typical hallmarks you’d expect. You’ll interact with various members of the Norse pantheon, from Ratatosk to Loki to the Norns. And it all ends with a big confrontation on the Bifrost Bridge. You know, good mythic Viking times.

I think that’s something every campaign setting invites – an adventure that shows off the fun stuff of the world. Though in this case, it’s a “campaign overlay” that adds in stuff you can drop into your existing world. Because Asgard and the like can theoretically be anywhere (and everywhere) thanks to the roots of the world tree.

“The Northlands Bundle delivers the ultimate frostbound fantasy experience, bringing the Northlands Worldbook and Northlands Sagas together in one epic collection on D&D Beyond.

Step into a land of runic magic, towering giants, and fate-forging adventure, filled with rich character options, a powerful prophecy generator, new monsters, spells, and magic items, along with robust DM tools, downtime systems, and legendary realms to explore.”

The other book, the Northlands World Book is full of the delicious player options we’re all here for. There are eight new subclasses, each one almost exactly what you’d expect a north/viking inspired take on a class to be like:

  • Barbarian – Path of the Titan
  • Bard – Skald
  • Cleric – Nornbound
  • Druid – Circle of Fenris
  • Fighter – Viking
  • Paladin – Oath of Valhalla
  • Sorcerer – Spirit Caller
  • Warlock – Trickster

And then there’s so much more. Like rules for flyting and holmgangs and tools for DMs to generate their own prophecies and the like. If you were only going to get one book, I’d say grab this one. But both are available now on D&D Beyond.

The Northlands await!
