LEGO: Build ‘Interstellar’, ‘The Fifth Element’, ‘Firefly’, And More With These Sci-Fi IDEAS Sets
Want to build scenes from Interstellar, Men in Black, and Arrival? These LEGO sci-fi sets could become reality—they just need your vote.
Arrival
The critically acclaimed movie about linguistics, metaphors, and aliens was robbed of several Oscars. It should get a kit to make up for that. This set interpreted the interior of the alien ship and one of the learning sessions into plastic bricks.
The set includes minifigures of Dr. Louise Banks (Amy Adams), Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner), and Colonel Weber (Forest Whitaker) and two of their military escorts. Each character comes with their hazmat gear, and Dr. Banks has an alternate outfit and language tablet. And of course, on the other side of the misty wall separating the humans from the aliens, we’ve got LEGO versions of Abbott and Costello, the heptapod aliens.

Firefly: The Serenity
Build the starship from the beloved series with this set made up of 25 modules that give access to its interior, which has space for minifigs and support vehicles. The Mule can accommodate a minifig and fits in the cargo bay. It also features the cockpit, crew dining area, engine bay, and hatches to personal quarters. All in a 2,850-piece build. It also includes Mal, River, Simon, Shepard, Jayne, Inara, Kaylee, Zoe, and Wash minifigs.
Fifth Element: Taxi Chase
Build one of the most iconic scenes in cinema with this set. Korben’s jet-powered taxi has a removable roof that reveals a detailed interior with seats for two minifigs, flight controls, and foot pedals. The police car shares a number of features with the Taxi, with a removable roof and seating for two police minifigs up front, and a jailed partition in the back. The set also includes our minifigs and a case with the element stones.

Men in Black
Along with the Monocycles from Men in Black 3, this set comes with Agent K and Agent J minigs and the iconic car from the first movie.
Agent K’s car is more than just a sleek black sedan — it’s a secret weapon on wheels. The LEGO version features the car in its’ auxiliary mode. In the film, the auxiliary mode was triggered by pressing a red button located next to a lever on the floor, intended only for exceptional situations. A memorable instance occurs when K instructs J to activate it to escape heavy traffic in the Queens tunnel. Once engaged, the car accelerates with such force that it drives along the tunnel’s ceiling, effectively “flying” over the jam below.

Spaceballs
This set has a chance at perfect timing if it can hit 10K in time for the next review period. The sequel has is filming right now, and Rick Moranis is coming back to play Dark Helmet—it’s hitting theaters in 2027. Build the Eagle-5 and display it with Lone Starr, his sidekick Barf, Princess Vespa, her droid Dot Matrix, Dark Helmet, and Yogurt minifigs.
Cowboy Bebop: Asteroid Blues
This 921-piece set recreates the chase scene in the beloved anime’s first episode.
After settling my inspiration for the size and scale, being: the ‘Death Star Trench Run Diorama’, I was consumed with research and instruction reading – but what scene or idea was I going to create from such an iconic series? I decided that the ending of Episode 1, when the main character Spike Spiegel is chasing the episode’s villain Asimov Solensan and his partner Katerina in his ship “Swordfish II” through a cityscape. Without getting into detail, the episode served as an emotional cold open to the series and was very impactful! I also knew that the specific scene of Spike in his red ship flying through a futuristic city could also be appealing to those who havent watched the series too.
