These sets are alive, will lie to you about cake, and —give these LEGO robots your vote!

Mobile Suit Gundam: RX-78-2

Build an icon of the mecha genre with this set based on the 1979 anime. It recreates the silhouette of the 1979 RX-78-2 that uses Master Grade SD proportions in order to recreate the head while ensuring that it’s balanced enough to stand on its own.

Retro Tin Robot

Recreate the classic kids’ toy with this 1,150-piece set, packed with authentic details.

True to the charm of vintage tin toys, this model is more than just a display piece it moves with personality! Inside, a clever kinetic mechanism brings the robot to life: with the movement of the red lever on the back it can be slid on the back of the robot and will allow the doors of the chest to swing open as the central laser cannons pop out and retract in classic sci-fi fashion. And that’s not all, a small technic ball on the back of the robot can be rotated to allow the robot to walk forward with its arms swinging back and forth, just like the mechanical marvels of the past.

Johnny Five (Short Circuit)

Johnny 5 rolled his way into the hearts of audiences back in 1986. Initially designed as a weapon, a lightning strike altered his programming, transforming him into a childlike robot with a need to explore and require endless amounts of input.

There have been several Johnny 5 sets submitted to IDEAS over the years. I refuse to give up hope that one will make it to market, so of course, I’m supporting this one. It’s a fantastic and cute design, complete with a bandana and a toolbox.

The Iron Giant

Recreate the beloved robot with this 16-inch brick action figure, featuring 24 points of articulation for dynamic posing. You can build him plain or with his S chestpiece. Comes complete with a Hogarth minifig for this LEGO robot to carry on new adventures.

Atop the base, you’ll also find Wheatley, the mischievous antagonist from Portal 2. And for fans who have been waiting over 15 years for their promised cake—you can finally make your own (LEGO) cake!

On the other side, P-body stands on a matching panel-style base, featuring an orange portal and the other half of the companion cube. This base also includes a Sentry Turret, ready to fire, and the game’s ultimate evil… the bird! Nestled on the base is a bird’s nest, complete with GLaDOS in potato form.

Beastie Boys – Intergalactic

Time to get funky with Ad-Rock, MCA, Mike D., and a brick-built LEGO robot. This build is fully posable, allowing the arms, legs, and head to move so you can recreate the robot’s memorable poses and scenes from the video.

Mazinger Z

This 3,210-piece set focuses on the mech, which is fully articulated and has a missile pod with flames and lights. It can be displayed on its own or on a repair base where scientists repair the mech after battles.

Since its debut in 1972, Mazinger Z has taken the world by storm, captivating audiences across multiple countries and influencing generations. It became a childhood hero for many boys — the embodiment of dreams! Mazinger Z was the first ever piloted mecha in history. Its original Japanese name is マジンガーZ (Mazinger Z), with “Mazinger” being a fusion of “Machine” and “God” — a robot possessing godlike, overwhelming power.
