Star Wars: Legion – Range Troopers Unboxed & Up Close
The Range Troopers got a new box for Star Wars: Legion. Let’s see what’s new with these all terrain Galactic Empire goons!
If you’re looking for some very effective Galactic Empire Troopers, the Range Troopers are well suited for a variety of environments. Recently, Atomic Mass Games sent me a copy of the box and while it’s “just” a repackage of the previous kit, this one is still impressive. Let’s dig into it and find out why.
These Troopers hit the shelves and folks snatched them up fast. If you were looking to add a set to your collection and you see one in the wild, you might want to snag it while you can.
Range Troopers Unboxed
Starting off, we’ve got the fairly typical packaging from Atomic Mass Games. You know what that means: Baggies for all! The sprues are in one bag, the bases in another, and finally, the cards and tokens are in the last bag. And the ever-present flyer that links back to the build guide is here, too. However, I don’t think you’ll really need it. More on that later.
Card-wise, the Range Troopers did get an update to their rules/art when the new box dropped. So that’s a plus. And naturally, you get a full play set of cards for each of the supported languages.
You get some pretty heavy-hitting options, and you get to build both of them in this box, too. Speaking of…
The Sprues are the same as far as I can tell from their previous release. They have the same poses and are actually really crisp sculpts. Building them was a breeze. So let’s check out what they look like.
Range Troopers Up Close
With this box, you can build the full set of 7. Now, it’s worth noting that while they have both heavy weapon options, you’re probably only getting to field one of them. There’s also the generic extra dude you can add to the base squad of 4 miniatures.
Depending on what you’re facing, you’ll be able to choose which heavy option works best for you. Or if you’re just shy on points, slapping the extra body in the unit isn’t bad either.
In terms of building tips, as mentioned above, these were pretty easy. I didn’t have a lot of issues with them because each of the bits are labeled with a respective letter and number combo. So, A01 through A08 is all one miniature. B01 through B08 is another. Repeat that a few times and you’ve got the set. If you’re not sure about the bit, just dry fit it or look at the guide. But the bits also have specific pegs and slots that fit, so it’s really hard to get them wrong.
Take your time clipping and cleaning these; keep the bits set separated, and you should have a full squad in no time flat!
Now for the bad news. These guys are currently sold out online from Asmodee. However, you might get lucky at your FLGS! So drop in there and see if you can find a set for yourself.
