Age of Sigmar: Up Close and Very Personal With The Lord of Hysteria
The Lord of Hysteria, a new champion of Slaanesh, is here to tempt you. Just calm down, already.
The Hedonites of Slaanesh are finally getting their Battletome and with it a ton of new rules, detachments, and regiments of renown, but only one all-new figure. It’s a cool one, though! This mortal champion plays host to a pleasure-daemon with whom they share body and soul. In return for granting this daemon access to the physical worlds of the Mortal Realms, the host is granted lethal prowess and the ability to spur their nearby allies into a killing frenzy through the release of strange fumes and pheromones.
This is just an extremely cool sculpt with a variety of options for assembly. You can choose one of two weapons, including the pictured polarm or a censer emitting a cloud of soporific fumes. Both options look awesome and will help to keep your army from looking repetitive if you field multiple Lords of Hysteria.
You also receive a pair of helmets to choose from during assembly. The helmet pictured above is clearly inspired by the unmistakable visage of a daemonic Steed of Slaanesh. Perhaps the bearer hopes to gain the speed and agility of these long-tongued monsters. Alternately, a second helmet evokes the even more exotic visage of a Mindstealer Sphiranx. What a cool visual callback to one of the most unique daemons in the Age of Sigmar model range.
I really like the direction Games Workshop has taken the Slaanesh range in recent years. They’ve still got all the classic design beats with long tongues, wicked barbs, and muted pinks and purples. But the updated armor designs and subtle changes have a real “Hellraiser” feel.
Explorers, in the further regions of experience. Daemons to some, angels to others. They seem nice.
