Marvel: Crisis Protocol – S.H.I.E.L.D Affiliation Pack Unboxed and Up Close
Nick Fury, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents are back with an Affiliation Pack for Marvel: Crisis Protocol!
The Sentinels might be the new hotness right now, but heroes never quit! That’s why the S.H.I.E.L.D Affiliation Pack is back. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. Atomic Mass Games sent me a copy of this one to review, and I’m glad because I was hoping to get the updated cards that are included. But we’ll get to that. For now, let’s see what’s in the box!
These aren’t new miniatures but they are a welcome return of a few solid options for S.H.I.E.L.D (and the Avengers).
S.H.I.E.L.D Affiliation Pack Unboxed
Starting off as we do around here, we’ve got all the contents laid out. As you can see, this one has two baggies: One for the sprues/bases and another for the cards/tokens. And this one packs a LOT of cards. Speaking of…
The reason there’s so many cards is that this pack has full sets for all the supported languages. Plus, this pack updates/include quite a few important cards for S.H.I.E.L.D as an Affiliation. Plus Hawkeye and Black Widow have a few Team Tactic Cards of their own. While you can see the cards above don’t strain your eyes too much. If you’re looking for hi-rez/downloadable versions of all these new/updated versions of the cards you can get them directly from Atomic Mass Games right HERE.
These are technically updated from their original release, too. It’s not just the art either. Specifically, I’m thinking of Hawkeye’s card which got an update a while back. Those changes are included in this updated version.
As far as the sprues go, again, these aren’t new. In fact, I had already build Hawkeye and Black Widow before. Technically it’s “Black Widow, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Which is kind of relevant because this is a different version from the ones included in the old Core set and the Earth’s Mightest Core set. Anyhow these are pretty easy to build. The agents have all their bits grouped on their own sprues and it’s really just “follow the numbers” to clip, clean, and assemble here. Which is exactly what I did…

Again, it was my second time building two of these miniatures so this was really a breeze of a build. I don’t have a ton of tips on assembly here because I didn’t really find this set difficult to build. I still stand by my tips of clean everything well and dry fit the bits. If you’re still hitting an issue on these, check the instructions.
I suppose you could make the case that positioning on the bases can be tricky for the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents. But really, you can build them individually and then glue them to the base so you can see what you’re doing.
For Nick Fury (who’s also technically Nick Fury, Jr.) this was extremely straightforward. The pose reminds me of some of the very 90’s miniature poses where the miniature had one finger pointing an another holding their weapon in the air. At least he does have his cool jacket flapping in the wind!
Hawkeye could be considered tricky because of how his foot is positioned inside/on top of the Hydra rubble. But really, his other foot is offset in a way that makes positioning very easy and stable. Again, pretty easy build here.
Black Widow also has a crazy pose in the sense that you DO need to balance her on the Hydra rubble, too. Since I had already built this model previously, I started by gluing the leg into the correct position first (there’s a peg/slot for her foot to go). I let that set while I did the rest of the miniature. Once that was done, it was an easy build as you just attach her torso to the now stable leg. Easy-peasy.
Oh and as a quick aside, I did actually have some extra S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents randomly (I think they were from a trade or something). Anyhow, I was curious to see if they would look right on their own bases. Turns out, yeah…they are still the same scale and everything. Maybe I can use these in a custom scenario or something fun! I’ll find a use for them.
The new Affiliation Pack came out at the same time as the Sentinels. So they should be out and in stores now. If you’re looking to update or complete your collection, snag them while you can!

Sometimes the subtlety of a spy and a little bit of firepower are the only things keeping the world from falling into chaos. It’s times like those that Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. deploy into action.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. Affiliation Pack contains miniatures, Stat Cards, and Team Tactic Cards for the collected characters. Ready to take to the table in Marvel: Crisis Protocol.
