Summer is here, and what better time of year to stay inside and assemble some miniatures?

It’s summertime. The AC is on, the drinks are cold, and the war gaming companies are rolling out their Big Releases. There’s a lot of stuff on the horizon that I’m excited about, but here are my most anticipated upcoming releases in no particular order.

Look, we’d all know I was lying if I didn’t list Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon as one of my (and everyone else’s) most anticipated releases of the summer. I feel like we’ve already said everything there is to say about this awesome set, so let’s just get it out of the way. Armageddon arrives June 20th, and I’m stoked to start working on my summer Road to Armageddon campaign.

Trench Crusade: Carcass Front

Trench Crusade is the blasphemous alternate history miniatures game that’s been taking the world by storm for a few years now. Carcass Front is available for pre-order now and will be the game’s first two-player starter set. It includes a pile of gruesome and gnarly miniatures along with everything two players need to get into this game. I’ve been following Trench Crusade ever since the original Kickstarter back in ’22 and I’ve been delighted to watch it grow into the dark treasure it’s become. Carcass Front is set to ship in late July.

Oasis: Tactical Salvage Reclamation

Oasis: Tactical Salvage Reclamation is a 6mm science fiction tactical wargame designed by Dale Eadeh, published by Collins Epic Wargames, and produced by Death Ray Designs and Tabletop Terrain, in which you lead armed surveying parties, raiders, and mercenaries in a battle to extract artifacts.

I saw a lot of awesome stuff at Adepticon this year, but Oasis: Tactical Salvage Reclamation was a stand out. I’m an absolute sucker for tiny scale scifi games like Legions Imperialis, so this fresh universe with a gritty and grimy feel is super appealing to me. Oasis’ will be launching a crowdfunder in July and I have already set aside some of my summer gaming budget to go deep when the time comes. Follow Oasis on Gamefound now and you’ll be eligible for a free model when it launches in July.

The Horus Heresy: Maximus Battle Group Box

The Horus Heresy is my favorite flavor of Warhammer and I cannot wait to get my hands on this box set. With updated MkIV power armor in both Tactical and Assault Squads, a Sicaran Battle Tank, and a Contemptor Dreadnought, this is going to be a fantastic way to start a new army or bulk out an existing one. I think I’m going to split the difference when I get it and use these models to finally kick off my long-dormant Blackshields detachment concept.

Elunara Wanderers

Warhost has been quietly creating one of the most compelling little fantasy skirmish games out there for the past few years. This new set of elves make a fantastic addition to the range and are beautifully sculpted by the one and only Paul Hicks. I really love these moody, atmospheric sculpts. If you’re not already playing Warhost, give it a shot. It’s rules are based on the popular historicals game, The Barons’ War, but is a stand-alone game of classic fantasy armies with fascinating twists.
