The Imperial Probe Droids are hunting on the tabletop in Star Wars: Legion. Don’t get spotted or the Empire will get you!

It’s time to take a closer look at the humble (and kind of terrifying) Imperial Probe Droid. When I was a kid watching Empire Strikes Back these droids always scared me for some reason. I think it was because they seemed so ominous. That and because I knew it was because of them that the Hoth Base got spotted. They were the harbingers of doom… or at least it’s eyes.  So let’s use our eyes and take a look inside their new box!

They are way less scary when they fit in the palm of your hand!

You actually get two of these little guys in the box which is nice. These are actually a new unit option, too! Which honestly surprised me because I could have sworn they were around before. I’m probably just mixing up my droid units.

Anyhow, you get all the components in their respective baggies once again. The Sprues are in one, bases in another, and the cards and tokens have their own. Just as we’ve come to expect from AMG.

It’s also worth noting you get two cards in the box for each supported language so you can actually use both miniatures. They don’t come with any upgrades however. But for 35 points they seem like an interesting option to harass your enemies with.

As far as the sprues, you get two total.

Once sprue is the actual miniatures and the other is the AMG Flight stands. It’s nice that you get some many different flight stand sizes, too. I mixed the heights just because. So let’s see the results and take a look at the completed minis!

The overall build for these is very simple. They only go together one way and each of them are labeled so it’s pretty dummy proof to build them. They literally won’t fit if you get the parts mixed. So just clip and clean all the same labeled parts and you should be all set. Ya know…if you keep them in their respective piles.

The only tricky part was the flight stands themselves. There’s a divot you can glue the flight stand into. Just make sure you’re clear of the legs/arms/appendages and you should be good. It’s kind of fun to figure out how you want to position the flight stand and which size you want.

Assembly-wise, it’s literally two halves of the arms, the top/torso, and then the flight stands. And the torso have a unique peg for each droid so, again, you literally can’t assemble these with the wrong part. Unless you try REALLY hard.

Oh, one other tip I learned for these. I suggest gluing the flight stand to the base first. Make sure that’s all good and stable and set. The you can put a dab of glue on the divot in the droid and set them into position. If everything is on a flat surface, the Droid should balance correctly. Unless you want them at a jaunty-angle. You do you.

The Imperial Probe Droids are out in stores. Thanks again to AMG for sending me this review copy to check out. These will look really good paired up with some Snow Troopers…

Star Wars: Legion – Imperial Probe Droids $34.99

Although not built for combat, probe droids are an effective tool of the Galactic Empire. They are deployed to remote planets across the galaxy to scan for Rebel activity. When skirmishes do break out, probe droids assist by disrupting the Rebel’s defenses.
