The Armies of Death take their turn in the flames with a free seasonal rules download.

The Realm of Fire is the setting of this year’s Age of Sigmar General’s Handbook season, and no faction in the game will be unchanged by the flames. The armies of Order and Chaos have had their new rules revealed, and today the forces of Death take their own turn. Flesh-eater Courts, Nighthaunt, Ossiarch Bonereapers, and Soulblight Gravelords all have received updated rules for their warscrolls, army abilities, and more.

Flesh Eater Courts

The ghoul-armies of Ushoran have a complicated relationship with reality, but they’ve got a solid grasp of the rage and fury mechanics introduced by this year’s General’s Handbook. This season, Flesh Eater Courts generals can draw upon the wealth of their Royal Treasury and find new Artefacts of Power.

A fancy hat that lets one of your heroes infuriate the enemy, stoking the flames of rage in their heart and manipulating them into a (hopefully) ill-considered assault upon your noble knights/disgusting monsters. Other items from the Royal Treasury include Flayed Flags and the Ring of Nightmarish Visions to bedeck your warriors with fleshy treasures. Some units are also receiving seasonal rules like the Royal Decapitator and Varghulf Courtier, as well as new Noble Pursuit Enhancements for most characters.

Nighthaunt

The vicious, petty, and generally unpleasant wraiths of the Nighthaunt are as vulnerable as any to the fury-stoking heat of Aqshy. While the Black Coach retains its rules from last season in Ghyran, Spirit Hosts get new abilities and the whole army can access new Relics of the Underworlds.

There are also new enhancements, like Vociferous Defamers which can be granted to any non-Hero Infantry or Cavalry unit. Hunting enemy spellcasters becomes doubly useful as a unit with this enhancement can empower your own wizards.

Ossiarch Bonereapers

The hosts of the Ossiarch Bonereapers are right at home in Aqshy where the scorching heat keeps their bones bleached a nice, clean shade of white. Mortis Reapers benefit from the obscuring heat hazes of the Bright Realm allowing them to hunt enemy characters with ease. Prowl, kill, vanish; repeat.

The rest of the army benefits from other rules updates. Mortisan Refinements offer new enhancements, while Relics of the Empire are new Artefacts of Power for the Bonereapers. These include the Banner of Old Ossia, a Scarabean Cloak, or Soulweb Gem which is capable of ressurecting a destroyed Hero.

Soulblight Gravelords

None of the Mortal Realms are safe from the nightmare predations of the Soulblight Gravelords. Even the people of Aqshy speak in hushed whispers of the bloodthirsty creatures that prowl at night. These disturbing stories are at the heart of this army’s seasonal updates. The Origins of Terrifying Folktales can be used to grant your units frightening and deadly powers befitting their ghastly reputations. The Empty Graveyard, for example, can be granted to a non-Hero Infantry unit allowing them to rapidly reposition and strike from an unexpected quarter.

Other Origins’ include the relentless Never-Dead or the Incarnadine Killers, monsters so hungry for their blood-feast that they move with supernatural speed. Cursed Bloodlines offers new heroic traits for a number of units like the Revenant Draconith and Vengorian Lord.

The forces of Order, Chaos, and Death have all had their turn in the fires of Aqshy. Only the armies of Destruction remain and will have their new rules revealed tomorrow.

Can a ghost catch on fire? I guess we’re going to find out.
