Marvel: Crisis Protocol Alliance – 3 Characters That Could Be Future Villains

Marvel: Crisis Protocol Alliance is coming. Here are a few villains I’d like to see in future expansions for the new game.

With the Night of the Goblin going up for Pre-Order, I started to get more excited for the new Beat’em-up style introduction to Marvel: Crisis Protocol. That got my creative juices flowing, and I started to think what OTHER baddies could make for a good villain/campaign expansion set for the new game.

Now, I want to caveat this by mentioning a few requirements that I thought about before we dive in. First up, it has to be an existing character. Why? Because all the teasers about this game so far are with existing villains within the game already. Now, that doesn’t mean we can’t have new characters or versions of them. It just means I’m not going to suggest Doctor Doom and an army of Doombots vs the Fantastic Four. Although I guess I just did throw that out there, didn’t I?

Second, the villain needs to have henchmen. The Green Goblin has his goons in Night of the Goblin. And I’m also not ruling out MCP making up goons for them either. But that said, those henchmen need to make logical sense.

Third, and this is kind of a bonus, they need to have a Hero team to fight against, too! And those are likely to be existing characters.

After all, I don’t think players are going to mind having access to alternate sculpts. But I really hope the folks at Atomic Mass Games don’t get greedy and put brand new characters for MCP in the boxed sets that are ONLY available from Marvel: Crisis Protocol Alliances. That’s going to leave a bad taste in fans’ mouths.

With that said, let’s dive in!

M.O.D.O.K. and A.I.M.

I don’t think I need to explain this one TOO much. But for those who don’t know, M.O.D.O.K. was actually created by the mad scientists at A.I.M. Unfortunately, for those same mad scientists, M.O.D.O.K. proved to be too much for them, and he not only destroyed his creators, but he also took A.I.M.

Hopefully, you can see the set now. A bunch of AIM henchmen and maybe even an elite version or two, all led by M.O.D.O.K. as the big boss.

So who would fight against this set of baddies? Well, normally I’d say Captain America and the Avengers. But we already know they are making an appearance in The Once and Future Kang set. So who else? Well, there’s plenty of Avengers! Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man and Wasp come to mind. But again, that roster runs DEEP.

Kingpin and The Mob

I can already see it: Kingpin and a horde of his goons. I’ve been saying we need more Street-level threats, but I’d settle for a bunch of grunts to take on, too. That said, there are lots of lower level street villains that the Kingpin could bring in. Tombstone comes to mind. Hammerhead is another one. But again, I hope those characters get releases in MCP first before they show up in an MCPA boxed set.

The characters I’d pit against them are an easy choice. Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and ….The Punisher! I think that would be an awesome lineup personally.

Nick Fury, JR and S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Wait a minute, wasn’t I supposed to be talking about villains!? Well, why not flip the formula on it’s head? Let’s have a set where you can play as the “Baddies” taking on S.H.I.E.L.D. led by none other than Nick Fury, Jr! Maybe it’s a jail break scenario or something like escaping from the Raft. It could work!

But who would the players get to play as? They would need to be iconic baddies. There’s a ton of great villains already in the game in the Cabal and Criminal Syndicate factions. But I’d also want to keep it relatively simple. Crossbones and Bullseye both come to mind as options. I also like  Taskmaster, too. I even think Klaw would be an underrated option. But, if they wanted to get really crazy, there is always heavy hitters like Magneto and Ultron that could be added in the mix.

Then again, Ultron could be his own scenario, too. But I think this particular option would be a great way for AMG to get creative and also show the villains some love. Just tossing that idea out there.
