New Warriors of Chaos are coming to the Old World; take a first look the new minis up close.

It’s been just over a week since Games Workshop revealed the new Core Set for Warhammer: The Old World and with it, the refreshed Warriors of Chaos miniatures. They’re already available for pre-order, and the Games Workshop studio was kind enough to send us a box to share with you. The new Core Set also includes a host of beautiful miniatures for an Army of Grand Cathay, but the Chaos contents include:

  • 1 Aspiring Champion on a Daemonic Mount
  • 1 Aspiring Champion with Battle Standard
  • 16 Chaos Warriors
  • 4 Chaos Knights

Chaos Warriors

Man, what a glow-up for this kit. The venerable Chaos Warriors have been ravaging the Old World for decades now, but this new set of models is easily their coolest incarnation yet. Gone are the leather boots of yesteryear, replaced with impressive metal boots and greaves. They’re also bedecked in some awesome styling with fur cloaks as a nod to their Viking inspiration.

A full command set is included, allowing you to have a champion, standard bearer, and musician lead your warband on their Path to Glory. The new standard is particularly cool. He’s holding aloft a disarticulated corpse impaled upon the symbol of Chaos Undivided in the universal sign of “friendship”.

This is a fantastic multi-part kit oozing with character, and they will look great painted up in whichever color your warband/patron daemons prefer. Kinda tempted to get some to paint up in Slaaneshi colors, myself!

Aspiring Champion with Battle Standard

This aspiring champion carries a truly enormous and terrifying banner displaying his loyalties to the Dark Gods. The model itself is covered in great detail, but the banner has plenty of room for you to apply transfers or free-hand your own blasphemous symbols of unspeakable power.

Chaos Knights

Not to be outdone by their friends on foot, the Chaos Knights have been similarly refreshed. The kit builds five all new Chaos Knights with a champion, standard bearer, and horn-blowing musician. These knights and their fearsome steeds are so heavily armored it surely requires the intervention of the Ruinous Powers themselves to help them get up to a charge. But no matter, they look as intimidating as their rules have and they are going to absolutely crush their enemies to paste on the charge.

These models are just cool as hell. They really evoke the vibes of old WHFB art from greats like Blanche, Bonner, and England. I’ve already got a dwarf army for games of The Old World but I am super tempted to pick up a box or two of these new Warriors of Chaos to start a Battle March force and really go nuts on conversions and kitbashing.

To which of the Ruinous Powers will you dedicate your warband?
