I have to say that GW is really doing a good job with these painting tutorial videos. Its a great introduction for beginners and hits technical skills such as drybrushing, decals and masking as they go through them.  Looking good GW.

~Those Custodes are so nice looking! – great job GW!

Ahh Duncan, let you warm voice guide me to heights of painting I will never reach.

    • euansmith

He is almost the Nigella Lawson of mini painting. He just needs to start talking about, “moistening your tip” when handling his brush and he’d be there.

  • Kritarion

I just love listening to Duncan’s soothing voice and let it flow into all the nooks and crannies of my mind…

Even as someone who’s been painting minis for a long time and no longer plays 40k, I still really appreciate these painting vids GW’s been putting out. Very easy to follow and some pretty great color recipes.

  • Luca Lacchini

As much as I find 40K SW silly looking and cartoonish, the 30K/earlier editions ones are really, really cool.
Dark ash grey instead of bluish, and more feral than with an animal fetish.

The slightly unrefined MkIII/MkIV amors suit them pretty well too.

  • I thought Custodes were human? Why are they as large as a Marine?

    • ILikeToColourRed

youre thinking of arbites maybe – custodes are made like marines but in a less “mass produced” fashion – kinda like grey knights

    • Walter Vining

custodies are almost purely made from the emperor himself

      • euansmith

        … and bacon.

        • Walter Vining

          how could I forget bacon

    • Dan Wilson

As space marines are made from their primarch’s genetic code, custodes are made directly from the emperor’s genetic code.

      • ZeeLobby

Doesn’t mean they’re giants though. In the fluff they rarely refer to them as being monstrosities. They actually praise them for being able to easily blend into a crowd.

    • ZeeLobby

I’ve always thought they were super humans not space marines, but meh. Guess a lot of other people read it otherwise.
