MUST SEE: GW’s 40K Death Guard Video

The sons of Mortation are on the march. Come see GW’s latest video on the Death Guard minis coming soon.

~Any bets on exactly when Mortation stalks the tabletop?

  • Sam Nolton

If there’s a Plague Zombie kit I’m pledging myself to nurgle ASAP and selling every model I currently have to afford a new army.

    • MrLodgik

Check the video closely i’m pretty sure the normal dude with a stubber is juste that

  • thereturnofsuppuppers

    Fantastic!!!

  • Bloke

The seventh legion? Were they not the fourteenth?

    • Nero Hairetikos

We are the XIVth not the VIIth WTF FLUFF

      • ZeeLobby

        Lol. That is hilariously bad.

    • Zakading

Might just be counting the traitor legions and want a connection to Nurgle’s #7

    • Or Imperial Fists suddenly turned traitor and joined Nurgle? 😉

      • JamesD

        Shut your mouth!

        • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

I knew those yellow guys weren’t to be trusted.

        • I see you can’t handle some simple joke? Or you fear GW being really that dumb? 😛
I have some ImpFists myself and I fear nothing in that regard 🙂

    • evillsvain

After spending 10.000 years in the Eye of Terror worshipping Nurgle, Primarch Mortarions memory started to go a little hazy and he would blurt out word “seven” in the most awkward of moments. Some of his subordinates have implied that it was partly due listening only one song on repeat all the time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PptHWHfnCnY

    • Aura1

They were Fourteenth but a few bits dropped off from space leprosy…

    • Carey_Mahoney

They were halved as a means of rationalization…?

    • ZeeLobby

Looks like they took it down. Clearly someone was like, uh, wrong number.

    • Ischemius

They’ve since changed the misconception. The Death Guard are still the holy XIVth.

  • Angry Panda

Yea, they’re pretty sexy; if you call nurgle infested marines sexy. Those backpacks are going to make sweet additions to the forgeworld death guard conversion kits.

    • Oh yeah, I can’t wait to see the kitbashing between these, the Forge World Marine & Termie sets, current CSM models, BoP/BaC marines/termies, Blightkings, etc.

There’s going to be some amazing conversions in the near future, I can tell you that much. Death Guard, one of the most conversion-friendly armies in 40k!

      • Angry Panda

My greenstuff will be very happy.

        • Just remember to please, in the name of Papa Nurgle, blend the edges smoothly or carve out areas for growths to come out of; too much Nurgle GS work just looks “stuck on”, you know?

  • Harkeal III Brennon

Probably april, may I think. I can see here plague marines, on other pics terminators… Are those crazy looking guys cultists or… Is that Typhus weapon or Mortarions?

    • Zakading

That’s 100% Mortarion. If you remember those leaked Mortarion model pics a while ago, his scythe their had the exact same angle and shape as that last weapon shown.
      http://m.imgur.com/a/Zuky9

      • Harkeal III Brennon

Yeah. Typhus scythe looks different. I wonder what will they offer beside Plague marines and Mortarion…

        • Basti Schreyer

Some of those infested cultists you can see in the vodeo?
Maybe also Terminators. Then they would more or less mirror the Thousand Sons releases.

The full package then would be Marines, Termis, Cult Troops, Typhus, Mortarion. And some Sorcerer kit, however that might’ve been specific and not get mirrored.

Still even what we can see in the video would mean a big overhaul to Nurgle CSMs. The more Ithink about it, the more likery it seems to me that GW gives the Death Guard the same treatment the Thousand Sons recieved.

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

now we know why Death Guard were made clearly the strongest Legion in the Legions book.

          • Basti Schreyer

I don’t think that’s necessarily sound logic. If you continue the idea of each god-specific legion getting their book, the Emperors Children would have ro be rather strong as well.

I think it’s more of the old trend of not all god-boons being created equal. It is a trend that carries trough most 40k CSM releases. The resilience GW grants Nurgle is more useful and ubiqutous than the better Initiative Slaanesh provides. GW, as so ofzen fails to account for that adequately with point cost.

And since Traitor’s Hate retreads old GW tropes, Nurgle is strong, the other god-specific Legions not as much. And what they did with the “non-alligned“ ones is mostly shameful.

My particular grudge centers around the total fail the Iron Warriors’ rules are. Yay, Iget to play cyborgs. But only if I don’t make them better via a Mark, significantly reducing their survivability.(I never saw the Mark of Khorne or Slaanesh as being even remotely useful for them)
Besides, the Models are old and can’t hold up after 20+ years. Additionally they are expansive to buy and only feature three slightly different poses.
What GW did with the “godless“ legions really feels like bottom of the barrel game design.

          • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

I agree and disagree. I’ve had great success with my Iron Warriors, playing to their strengths. I already had vindicators and Vengeance Weapon Batteries, being able to reroll their scatter makes them much better. The VWB with battle cannons are an absolute steal now. In a CAD with objective secured tank hunter obliterators led by the Daemon Prince who takes Daemon of Tzeentch and the 2+ armour for a 2+ save rerolling 1s its all pretty powerful.

The Warband formation not so much, but its not bad.

Alpha Legion being able to infiltrate is also cool as are respawning cultists on a 3+. Its Word Bearers who got the rough end of the stick.

      • Anggul

Though they did Ahriman, so it seems likely that they will do Typhus too.

      • Keith Wilson

i thought that leaked model was a confirmed hoax/personal conversion

      • 301stFeinminsterArmoured

        Dat Swordbreaker tho.

      • Private Skittles

Yeah I agree…I think they left out the tip of the scythe from the video to keep it from being a dead giveaway.

Tbh when I saw that image I paid the most attention to the “nurglings” flying to the sides near the base…they are so representative of GW’s new style of creating suspended/floating mini elements (i.e. Celestine & co, Cawl’s rear servo-skull, Yncarne etc.) that it seems like a legit leak.

  • Zakading

If I’m not mistaken, the leaks about those new Marine models also mentioned Death Guard and Plague Marines getting some love soon. As far as I’m concerned, that just solidified that rumor for me.

  • Kefka

Oh…my….god of pestilence! This is such a good thing to wake up to!

    • DrunkCorgi

If you’re excited to wake up to the god of pestilence… I shudder to think what you must have been up to the night before.

Not judging, just recommending you use protection. Lots and lots of protection.

  • Peyton Allen

Cant tell if the guy with the bell is a terminator or regular plague marine, leaning towards marine.

    • Keith Wilson

the older typhus model is very solid …. i have one of each of the “older” versions of kharne, ahriman, lucius and typhus and i think he is the best of the 4

  • DeCold

CANT GET HYPED ENOUGH, ALL ABOARD THE WARP TRAIN.

  • Krizzab

at least after 30 years decent plaguemarines.

    • william timonen

I like the old ones, these are cool But the old ones arent awful.

      • Karru

It’s the monopose they have that makes them problematic. I do agree with you that the sculpts are very good with the old ones, problems come once you start getting more than 1 or 2 squads of them though.

        • william timonen

Yeah, just the thought of multi-part ones…

    • ZeeLobby

I vant to suck your puss! Ha-ha-ha

    • amaximus167

The FW upgrade kits bashed with MkIII were perfect. Well, except the cost…

  • The_Mighty_Moogar

Man that guy’s Dracula voice really killed the video haha. DoW 2’s plague marine voices were perfect they should’ve just copied it

    • Arthfael

      I don’t know, I liked it.

    • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

      pleasantly gurgley

    • ZeeLobby

“I vant to suck your puss! Ha-ha-ha” – Vlad the Cougher

  • Papa, I’m comin’ home!

  • Sonic tooth

    these look fantastic

  • Andrew

Oooo boy! Now just two more cult legions to go!

  • Seb

I wonder, are they now only just tapping Jes Goodwin’s brilliant sketches from across a decade (Adpetus Mech. Gene. Coven, Chaos Marines..) or is it because the extrusion technology has finally allowed GW to do his style justice?

Ever since, I feel its right to say, the Skaven release, GW Has been going great guns through Goodwin’s folio for the better.

  • YorkshireNinja

Goddammit. So for ‘New Year, New Army’ I started death guard. All converted from MkIII marines and Cataphractii termies, and my lord, based on the Huron Blackheart mini, has a huge bell on his back from the Blightkings set. Stop stealing my ideas GW!. These are superb minis though, going to have to get some and intersperse them through my force as chaos champions.

    • 301stFeinminsterArmoured

Need to find a way to use my Blightkings, er, Plague Ogryn with the DG I just got done building now. Too bad you can’t Ally in Shock Legion, so I’ll need Zombies or Guardsmen for tax.

  • Edouard Decaen

Mind blowing ! I’m set. I need those

  • Guillermo Cordido

    mortarion or typhus?

    • Carey_Mahoney

The latter one would not be teased like this.

  • Justin Pettett

    Where’s the f#$%^& video???

    • Benine09

Think they realised that “Seventh Legion” mistake

  • Alexis Muscat

That’s so smexy ! And as a worshiper of the Rock’N’Roll god I know he is next for sure yay!
(Unless GW decide to make new Berserks once more ?)

  • euansmith

    “The video says “Coming Soon”.”

The video says, “This video has been removed by the user.”

  • NonCadalso

    Can somebody reupload the video?

  • Iconoc1ast

    They are so cool!!

  • Balonikowo .pl

There’s other video GW video. Inside the studio. Some lama jokes and a box lying in The background with a “Plastic Thunderhawk” written on it.

  • stinkoman

oh, might be a good time to jump into chaos properly (rather than with my 4k points of demons). But the looming 8th edition rules are keeping me reserved. maybe if i make my reserve roll… but that never happens.

  • Graham Bartram

I think the most interesting thing to come out of Adepticon so far is the thoughts on rule changes; https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/03/23/warhammer-40000-news-from-adepticon/

    • stinkoman

So a little second ed coming back. god i hope that moral rule doesnt make it in. like giving everyone a form of demonic instability.

      • Graham Bartram

But the current break mechanic is dire.

        • stinkoman

IDK. i think it’s fine. when things die faster, games go quicker. as it stands now, it already takes a few hours to play if you aren’t one of those that play frequently. that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but i’ve had real life come in the way of finishing games proper more times than i can count.

i actually like Kings of War style where you just beat the other unit till it runs. you dont remove any part of it until if fails “moral” and then you just remove the whole thing.

  • MechBattler

Wow, these guys showed up a lot faster than I was expecting. I thought they were going to go the slow burn route and not drop plastics for the rest of the cults for a while.

Guess that means we’ll see Fulgrim and da noizy boyz by summer at this rate.

  • Zack Seiders

Considering I was making a death guard list…. My insides feel like it is about to burst with joy.

  • Anyone else think that voice in the video sounds a bit like Danny DeVito as the Penguin?

  • Josh Heinz

Seems like GW slightly screwed up the video, with the VO saying 7th legion. Granted, I always thought that not making the legions with the gods favored numbers traitors was a missed opportunity, but whatever. Looks like they took down the original video, and put up an edited one. Here it is:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BceinBiT9jQ

  • MrLodgik

The first version of this video showed a nurgle terminator

  • eehaze

I have the poxiest boner right now…
