Hi Folks,
Today Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Dark Heresy shipped.
I have briefly thumbed through a copy of it and Wow is it a beautiful piece of work! Almost 400 full color pages of RPG goodness, stuffed full of all the character classes, skills, weapons, and maps you would expect from a solid 40k offering from Black Industries.
The next time you are at your local hobby store or shopping online, check it out!

Me2 - same problem in Germany ;)
i got the little pre-release game thing, looks interesting although I will never pick it up.
40K takes up alot of time already.
:P
i read it at the bookshop i work at and it's awesome. really nicely fills out some of the 40k background for the average people. excellent stuff!
I saw it in Waterstones in Blighty... £35 though.
German guys - it is in stock in Flensburg... as of today... so keep looking!
it is sold out! :(
Is this a d20 RPG, is it like the WFRP, or something different? I always liked Hero Wars, and it would work in this setting, but I'm sure it's not that.
GW: "Here is a fist full of used notes."
BOLS: "Thanks, consider us your marketing bitches."
Only Joking!!!
Is this a book that the average 40K player should be interested in buying, or just the hardcore collectors and people wanting to play the game?
Well it's a book designed to allow people to roleplay as an inquisitor's retinue (I think) in the 40k Universe. There might be some fluff thrown in here and there, but I wouldn't say this is for the average 40k player. If your not going to sit down at a tabletop roleplaying session, I kind of doubt you'd get a whole lot of use out of this.
Dietrich: Its like WHFRP. a lot like it, but enough twists to make it cool. I would have a copy today were it not for the BoLS guys snatching them up at 12:01 this morning from our FLGS *shakes fist*
Its a very cool book. with the last 1/3 devoted to just fluff about living in the empyrium, how the differnt factions of the inquisition interact. Its 400 pgs and $50 with tons of nice ilustation (all color book btw). If you can play 3rd ed D&D you can play this and its actually easier. If I don't like 4th ed D&D I may give it a miss and just keep playing this. FYI the GM screen is really cool.
I got my copy yesterday from my local dealer. Really cool, especially since it isn't supposed to go on sale in the Netherlands until February 4th. I'm seriously considering starting a campaign with some die-hard 40K players. If you are not into roleplaying, I don't think you'll get your money worth from this book, although it does look amazing and indeed has a lot of info on the Inquisition and life in the Imperium...
The system is based on d10s and d100s, so I guess it's quite different from WHFRP.
It is magnificent - But it is not the 40K tabletop game! It really is a role playing game where deduction, research and other skills will play a large part. Expect character Acolytes who charge blindly into gun battles to be shot down... Even in the introductory adventure the Acolytes can get in well over their heads without trying too hard.
I just finished the book and I'm very impressed. I may even try running it.
@dietrich: Not a d20 RPG. More like WFRP, but with more of a Rolemaster feel. Fairly sophisticated rules (lots of tables), but well laid out and logically organized.
@Anon1: If GW wants to pay us to shill their stuff, consider us on the market. We'd sell out at the drop of a hat!
@Anon2: Its a very interesting read and gives you an insight to the way the Imperium works. I wouldn't recommend it for an average 40k player that isn't looking to play the game, but a valuable resource for groups that run campaigns.
@Angel: You snooze, you lose. It was 40K night, where were you?
