Forgeworld Open Day 08

pics brought to the community by warseer's philbrad, bungaroo, and bigbot

Wow, just Wow!

Forgeworld Open Day 08 has unleashed a cornucopia of goodness our way. Lets take a look at all the goodies! First up we have the event programme and the pricing for the Reaver!

Now we move onto a set of really nice Reaver pics. It looks that thing is beatutifully detailed and fairly large. Its just towering over the Warhound in that battlefield pic.

Next we get a lot of other miscellaneous stuff, lots of it for Siege of Vraks Part 2. The Mounted Commisar is a stunning piece, and the Nurgle sorceror is a nice addition to the model range.

Finally we see some much awaited odds and ends. Eldar players will be ecstatic over the Mk2 Cobra, and that Chaplain Dread is fantastic as well. (and boy is the Manta still giant)

~And here I was thinking I could start to put down my wallet for a bit... silly me. What do you guys think of these goodies?

Reaver titan goodness, love it.

The Reaver looks so much better than the WIP shots a few months ago. They really gave it a lean and mean look.

Unfortunately it'll be almost $1,250 after you're done paying shipping and currency conversion. I would buy one if I could, but that just isn't happening right now.

I'll have to be the guy to say it: I don't like the look of that Reaver titan. Sure, it's enormous, which I can appreciate. But it just doesn't go with the current look of 40K. It looks a lot closer to the old Armourcast stuff. I know some people like that, but I'm not a huge fan.

The Nurgle Sorceror, mounted Commissar, and Chaplain Dreadnought are ace. I wonder what the special rules will be. Now they just need to do Librarian Dreadnoughts!!

Okay...fine FW...I'll buy a Reaver to go along with my Amorcast Reavers...sheesh.Damn that thing looks sweet. When is the Chaos version going to be out...

Im liking the Chaplain Dread and the mounted Commissar and Nurgle Sorcerer look like they would be great to paint

I'm looking forward to the chaos reaver later this year, boy is my wallet gonna hate me

I don't know, I'm not that impressed with the Reaver, especially for a price tag of over $1200! It definitely looks better painted than in the pre-release teaser images shown a while back, but it still looks to kit-bashed to me.

Everything else looks fantastic though. The one thing I noticed is that from the pic it doesn't look like the Chaplain dreadnought can have its weapon arm pointing forward because of the eagle wings?! That would be pretty silly if that is how the model ends up.

Apart from it being BIGGER, I think the Warhound looks much, much nicer.

It 's rather plain, and as Ventris states, it does look very Armourcast.

tbh, im not a fan. i like the new(er) look style warhounds. old styled stuff doenst really fit in as the pic with the reaver, warhound and super heavies illustrates perfectly.

much rather pick up an armorcast reaver off ebay. looks about as good and costs half the price :/

also slightly surprised that they went down the more GW design route as they pretty much stuck to the warhound versions that they released for epic for the bigger design

I'm loving that new mounted Commissar, does anybody have any idea what the model is equipped with?

I still cant decide what I think of the Reaver, I prefer the Warhound hands down though, a far more intimidating model.

People should note that the Commissar is apparently a conversion done by Mark Bedford

Here is a quote from how he did it

"He used the Commisar with the sword over shoulder/las pistol. He swopped the right arm for an arm with binos and chopped off the left arm and resculpted the left epellette with some heating of the resin and then added an arm from a gun crewman."

Hmm, the Reaver has Warlord class arm weapons - the tri-barrel Laser Blaster and the 6 barrel Gatling Blaster...

Time to update the Lords of Battle? ^_^

I think with all those feathers, the Chaplain Dreadnought should be renamed the "Elton John Dreadnought". Ugh.

All I have to say is "finally!"

My Type II Scorpion was starting to get lonely. Soon it'll have a new Type II Cobra to play with, then all of those plastic Baneblades will truely have something to fear.

Muwahahaha!

wow, over 1k for the Reaver. Not worth it for me - rather convert one for less than a 10th of the price. But the Nurgle sorcerer is awesome, and I may seriously think about buying it. The mounted commissar is also pretty sweet. The chaplain dread is alright, better than the GW venerable dread, but I don't need to have it.

I love the new reaver, price is high as usual but this hobby is not exactly price sensitive.

I do not understand the "looks like armorcast" comments, when you consider that armorcast designs came from the original GW models for epic. As the buyer and seller of several of all of the armorast titans I can tell you the scale and the detail are very different. You pay much less for the simpler resins from Armorcast but you also get what you pay for...a lesser model. Many of them on eBay are counterfeit as well, as the models are not difficult to cast to the same quality level of 1989.

Anyway I'm glad its here, now just have to wait for FW to catch up to demand (on everything) so you can actually get one once you pay for it!

It never occurred to me that FW would be making chaos characters to go with the cult troops we've seen ... Sweet!

And more dreads always gets me excited.

things keep happening to me... subtle hints that I should start a Blood Angel army.

the chaplain dread is just another of those hints.

The Reaver looks MUCH better than the WIP shots from before, but I still don't like it. It's kinda like they half tried to make it look like the older Armorcast era Reavers armour wise, but with the current style stance. It just doesn't do it for me. I'd rather buy an Armorcast, or convert my own.

As for the Chaplain Dreadnought... I didn't think it was possible to make an uglier looking model than Chaplain Lemartes, but hey I was wrong. :P

The Commissar looks great though.

for over a thousand bucks you think they could make that thing taking a stride...

Well the Reaver has me in love again...

The Chaplain dread looks kinda dumb, maybe if its painted it will look less bird like.

I don't see why people are complaining about the reaver. That is what it still looks like in every illustration. They stayed true to form.

The Chaplain Dreadnought will make an absolutely brillant Death Company Dreadnought for my Blood Angels force, and a perfectly suitable walking coffin for Tycho.

It's about time that FW finally put out a Reaver. I will have to say that my old (Last Century, Armourcast) Reaver looks just as good as the new one (at 1/10th) of the price. Obviously FW's not doing anything special. just charging more $$$... oops, sorry

All I want are the new rules.
