Run Don’t Walk! Games Workshop is permanently discontinuing a ton of 40K game accessories! Get em while you can!

It appears the  Last Chance section from the main GW site is spreading over to the Grimdark – and a lot of 40K faction Data Cards are on the chopping block this time:

I’ve added pictures of some of the standouts that are headed out to pasture.  HURRY as some of these have already sold out – FOREVER!

What’s Going On?

That’s the big question isn’t it?  Not all the faction Data Card sets are on that list. some like Craftworld are already sold out, while some recent ones like Death Watch are still in stock, and not on the Last Chance to Buy list.

We know that the next edition of Warhammer 40,000 is well under development, aimed at a 2017 release.  Going back through the editions of the game, there are almost always changes to the following rules sections:

  • Psychic Phase
  • Assault Phase
  • Vehicle Rules
  • Missions

That would put the Data Card sets right in the crosshairs for rules that may be no longer viable in the new era.  I could see GW slowly letting the entire Data Card set’s inventory sell down to zero and not refill them. – That would ensure a lengthy gap between players picking up the product and them being possibly invalidated by a new edition.

It would also be a strong hint to what rules sections GW may be taking the red pen to as they work on the new edition.

What do you think is going on?
