GW: Rumor Engine – Shell Shocked

Today’s rumor engine has us all feeling a little shell shocked. Whatever can it be? Let’s find out.

Today’s rumor engine is causing a stark divide in the BoLS office. Is this a shell? Or some kind of reptile/snake scale type thing? Our office teeters on the brink of war, and the fate of millions hangs in the balance. Or at least, the idea of whether or not this is a shell or a scale hangs in the balance.

My first guess is that this is some kind of chitinous carapace–it looks very Tyranid-y, though they also tend to be a little bonier than that, and it does look awfully smooth. It could just be a that the bones/spurs/whatever are cropped out, but this still kinda feels like one of the “softer” parts of a thing. If it were a little more segmented, I say it could be the armor plating on a carnifex or a zoanthrope or something:

But maybe this is plating of a different kind. Maybe this is the sleek, sculpted plating of high tech stuff, and the tyranid tint is just a bias because of the upcoming release. Could be some kind of highly-machined, or even cloak like thing hanging off of the back of some kinda Dark Eldar or something. Well, with that in mind, I guess I’d better report back to the BoLSmoot, to say that we have no new information, and in fact more questions.

Heads will roll, I’m afraid. In the meantime, perhaps it’s time to break out those internet detective magnifying glasses and deerstalkers and see if you can figure out what this thing actually is. Best of luck, internet detectives.

Some internet times, some internet crimes, go slipping through the internet cracks, but these two, internet gumshoes, are picking up the internet slack, there’s no internet case too big, no internet case to small, if you need internet help just internet call Ch-ch-ch-chip and Dale’s Rescue internet Rangers.

doesn’t look to niddy to me. to smooth and to neatly joined. Nid Chitin tends to have very pronounced layering in the plates.

Happy to be wrong but based on this I’d say it’s something else entirely.

    • Gunther Clone C

Another Sigmarine Star Drake. 😛 Maybe another Shadespire army? Maybe the Void Dragon is truly moving?

  • Talos2

Whatever it is it’ll be the bit dangling from a pole or something as a trophy. Could be anything

  • jonnyt

Belly of a snake-like primarch? Would love to see Fulgrim in 40k

    • generalchaos34

im going to second that, or new Slaneesh models. A lot of things lately seem to be pointing that way, not quite AoS, not quite 40k, im thinking a Daemon Primcarch could be to blame

    • Iconoc1ast

      :O could be!

  • Gamecock13

    Dark Eldar please.

  • Kritarion

Thats the converted biomass of a plastic Sister.

  • Vepr

    Squat codpiece ornament.

  • I_am_Alpharius

Nope utterly stumped on this one.

  • Raptor987 123

    New Necromunda warband?

    • Severius_Tolluck

*mumble mu,ble* fethin van sar*grumble grumble*

  • piglette

The Three Seashells revealed at last

    • Khelban Blackstaff

Heh heh, even Stallone wants to know that.

  • allheilstormcrow

    Kinda looks necrony

  • Jesse Sinclair

Kinda looks like the scaly underbelly of how GW sculpts the undersides of the Seraphon dinosaurs and Stormcast drakes to me.

    I’m betting in something reptillian.

  • Fraser1191

I’m saying it’s the under belly of a lizardman

  • Xodis

Im not saying its Snakeman Fulgrim….but its Snakeman Fulgrim.

    • benn grimm

      Fingers crossed!

    • Fraser1191

As much as I want this to be fulgrim…
We need another loyalist primarch first, 3v1 is just unrealistic even Magnus and mortarion vs just Gulliman is absurd. Loyalists should have more released at a time cause they need the odds in their favour cause well we all know a deamon primarch is better than a normal one

      • Xodis

        Loyalist dont “need” anything lol.

Honestly though its probably not, because there has never even been a rumor about a Emperors Children/Slaanesh CSM codex in the works (and they were included in CSM generic codex) . Unless GW just pulled the best magic trick ever.

        • ragelion

Well actually I recall hastings saying that a new keeper of secrets has been finished/worked on and they need to do all the art and planning etc. Back in the past this was a long time ago.

          • Xodis

If its late November 2018 I can see it, but It just doesnt make sense to have included them in CSM if they are just around the corner. We still need an updated Thousand Son codex, and then there is the question of when the World Eaters will get something.

          • ragelion

Honestly I am also assuming late 2018. When he mentioned in the Q&A that GW said slaanesh is 2018. I recall he said this in the AOS section so I assume emperor’s children would be 2019 at most. I am rewatching the video again to give you a time stamp.

          • Slaanesh Devotee

When I clicked your video, it was talking about the Citadel paint app, not Slaanesh..

          • ragelion

Did you go to 25:45? It’s quite clear that someone asked about slaanesh.

        • Fraser1191

Could also be the uh dark eldar snake guys too

          • Xodis

Probably more likely than Snake Fulgrim in a couple months.

          • Fraser1191

They are gonna have to get creative with the writing if guilliman is gonna fight the 3 of them off lol

          • Xodis

Well it is Girlyman, Im sure he will pull some Deus ex machina out of his butt plate and still save the day. Leman Russ and Rogal Dorn could show up with Sanguinius freshly risen from the grave, and Rowboat will still get all the credit.

          • Muninwing

the Lion could show up too… and just wait at the periphery to see who wins.

or, more realistically, he’d join in, and he’d win it on his own. But Girlyman would get the credit and Gav Thorpe fanboys would still call the Lion a traitor…

  • Reymond

    Asdrubael Vect

  • Chris Hateley

    It’s a space marine.

  • Joel Fowler

Calling it now. Zoats in AoS.

  • Joel Fowler

Calling it now. Zoats in AoS.

  • Rob brown

It reminds me of Necrons for some reason

  • FugeeLaw

    Can only be plastic thunderhawk.

  • Kevin Murray

    Vulkans Cloak.

  • Marco Marantz

Crashing through the sky, comes a fearful cry, COBRA – COBRA!

  • DtLS

That looks like it could be the helmet of Karandras.

  • eMtoN

It’s a power cable for a plasma gun which fits on the side of a thunderhawk.

  • jexinator

No way it’s a tyranid thing
Snake style shell should be more accurate

  • James Tompsett

    Looks Necron to me.

  • Luca Lacchini

Could be a very close capture of a ridged horn. Which means anything.
But as much as I hope for something Dark Eldar related, I cast my vote for Fulgrim.

  • Iconoc1ast

iit is nids…please be a lictor!!!

  • Daniel Breslin

Does GW confirm when a Rumor Engine miniature is released or do they trust the community to figure that out?

  • Jabberwokk

Now it looks like a snake. Maybe AoS monster.
