GW: December 23 New Release “Gavriel Sureheart”

It’s a light week from Games Workshop – but at least the model has a commanding presence!

Lord-Celestant Gavriel Sureheart $35

The leaders of the Stormhosts, exceptionally gifted warriors who ride into battle in blazing fields of azure light, the Lord-Celestants are respected for their tenacity and battle skills even amongst the immortals. Gavriel Sureheart is a valiant champion of Sigmar’s Stormhosts, casting aside the enemies of Order with an imperious sweep of his starbound blade.

This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble Gavriel Sureheart, a Stormcast Eternals Lord-Celestant. He’s clad in the impressively bulky armour that his brothers wear, but Sureheart eschews the standard helm – he comes with a bare head, showing clearly his furious expression and long, flowing hair. He holds aloft a starbound blade as long as he is tall, inscribed with powerful runes, and a Sigmarite thundershield – this is different to the shield held by most Lords-Celestant, being similar to the round variant held by Dracothian Guard. Each and every surface of the model is littered with the iconography of Sigmar, from the sculpted shoulder pads to the carved greaves.

This kit comes as 8 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 40mm Round base. Rules are available as a free download.

Charge! For Sigmar!!

Poor Gavriel, released when even the lovers of Stormcast are saying “Surely, not another Lord Celestant?” and given the whole week as the preorder to really make sure people notice and tire of him.

Which is to say nothing of how he was released just after “The Disaster Artist” reminded everyone what Tommy Wissau looks like…

    • Crevab

I did not Smite him, I did naaaht. Oh, hi Sigmar

      • euansmith

        ““You’re tearing me apart, Slaanesha!”

    • Slippy

Right! The whole week I felt that way.. still this dude?? What’s so special about him. The mini isn’t even that good

  • Crevab

    Pricey bugger, ain’t he

    • euansmith

Its all that gold, and hair treatment, it don’t come cheap.

      • EnTyme

The secret is Farrah Fawcett spray.

    • Oggthrok

Actually, he fits into the $25-$35 clampack price range typical in 40k and AOS lately. The trouble is, he’s competing with, what, nine other Stormcast models of this sort?

Venators, Azyros, castellants, veritants, vexillors, questors, and heraldors, all fit this niche. And if it’s a Celestant you really want, there were already three other options, including one with hammers attached to his cape so he can spin and clobber you with his cape, which is hilarious.

Gavriel and that Veteran Sarg anniversary model should hang out, they’re the only ones who understand each other’ Spain.

      • Crevab

$35 for a single small sprue is a high as they come. Other models of that price are either two sprues or the next size up

“Actually” should only be used if you’re contradicting something.

My bank account thanks GW for putting out this highly undesirable mini.

I now know the Emperors real name

  • Luca Lacchini

Were not for the flowing hair integral to the pauldron sculpt instead of the head, I’d be interested, even if just a little.
The way it is, it’s just too much hassle even for a conversion.

  • euansmith

I imagine a lot of sniggering from the Free People when they guys turn up.

“So then this nob comes poncing in, all dressed up like a candelabra and says, “What-ho, chaps, I am Gavriel Sureheart!” I damn near wet myself trying to keep a straight face. So I says, “Pleased to meet yah, I’m Dysentery Sorearse!”…”

“And that’s when he cut your nose off?”

“Yeah, but up until then, I had zero respect for the man.”

I feel like people would have rather just had a single clam release of Neave instead of this. Meh, his face is…not great, but hey that’s what head swaps are for! =)

  • chris harrison

I think he looks more like Gene Simmons of KISS, but he’s so vain he would never let his hair go grey.

  • I was just saying how I thought there weren’t enough stormcast in the game.
