Two New Nurgle Heralds Lead The Charge

Games Workshop is teasing a pair of new Heralds for Nurgle that are coming in the new year!

Sloppity Bilepiper and Spoilpox Scrivener – those are the names of the new Nurgle Heralds that are coming to the tabletop for both 40k and AoS.

via Warhammer Community

“…Sloppity Bilepiper, a miniature that sums up the repugnant jollity of Nurgle perfectly. Armed with a set of jolly gutpipes and a marotter (crafted from the remains of the previous Sloppity Bilepiper), these Heralds are the victims and carriers of the Chortling Murrain, a disease that causes its victims to laugh themselves to death. Sloppity Bilepipers cavort and joke with Nurglings, Great Unclean Ones and Beasts of Nurgle (but not Plaguebearers, who lack a sense of humour) and strike horror into the hearts of their mortal foes.”

“…Spoilpox Scrivener is a downright dour creature by comparison… It’s the job of the Spoilpox Scriveners to ensure that Plaguebearers meet their tallies, a job they accomplish by relentlessly browbeating and bullying their counterparts with a barrage of insults and commands. On the tabletop, the Spoilpox Scrivener will ensure that your Plaguebearers fight harder, making them a handy strategic lynchpin for the rest of your army.”

Jovial and pustulant – that pretty much sums up the these two Nurgle miniatures. You’ll be able to find their rules in the upcoming Codex: Chaos Daemons and Battletome: Maggotkin of Nurgle. Also be sure to hop over to Warhammer Community to get a free Nurgle-Themed Wallpaper as well!

What’s your take on Spoilpox Scrivener and Sloppity Bilepiper?

  • Rufus

Sloppity Bilepiper is the most glorious name GW has ever pulled from their Nurgle-blessed orifices

    • benvoliothefirst

I feel the same but based on my experience with the hobby I have a feeling it’s going to be polarizing.

      • 6Cobra

        Yep.. polarizing.

The idea of skeletal cultists sacrificing weeping children in a terrifying ritual to summon a timeless evil named “Sloppity Bilepiper” just completely kills the immersion for me. I guess I should just be glad that they didn’t name the new GUO character “Fatty McGee” and the Blighthauler “Green Choo-choo.”

        • LankTank

          Poo Poo Ka Choo

        • Spacefrisian

At least it aint Qwebbledruktus or Dfreckalisqty.

        • DeadlyYellow

So I’m a bit skimp on WHFB lore, but that doesn’t really seem like a Nurgle method.

Though I’d imagine a cultist of Nurgle to be too plagued and poxy to care.

    • Dave Bacon

While I agree, I feel the name of the disease he spreads is a close second…

“Chortling Murrain, a disease that causes its victims to laugh themselves to death.”

    • vlad78

Indeed, but they are finally able to give different emotions to their minis than just the usual angry faces. And that is really a step forward.

    • Coltcabunny

Sloppity Bilepiper totally sounds like a legit male porn star name.

      • DrunkCorgi

You… should probably re-evaluate your porn choices if that’s the first thing that comes to mind.

    • OMG – that organ bagpipe is amazing! Also his hat. I have a thing for deamons with hats.

    • Mr.Gold

certainly better than Skull McSkullface that all Khorne Characters seemed to be called…

    • JPMcMillen

It’s names like that, that make me wish GW would put their old random demon name generator back on the website.

  • EnTyme

And the trend of oddly adorable Nurglings on bases continues! Seriously, some make a plushy of these things.

    • Oh god I’d spend stupid amounts of money on plush nurglings

  • Mr.Gold

No, Mr Scrivener – I will not accept that the nurgling ate your scroll…

  • Kritarion

The Scrivener looks like he is fed up with the bollocks the huge shouldermouth is shouting all the time

    • Coltcabunny

      It’s his own mouth.

      • Ben Martin

I don’t see how that changes the fact he’s perpetually irritated with it, lol

  • benn grimm

    Dumb names, cool models.

    • James Regan

I feel daemon names are perpetually stuck between silly and impossible to pronounce. I still reckon Ss’l Sh’kar from the daemon world book managed it (technically possible to say, but neither looks like it nor sounds like words), but it’s a fine line to walk.

      • benn grimm

I think there’s a big difference between an awkward string of syllables and something that sounds like a name a ten year old would give a pet bunny rabbit, but hey, Daemons are supposed to have thousands of names, I guess a few of them can be silly. I think I’ll call mine Scrotie Mcboogerballs. Or maybe D’an’dee’lion.

        • Martin B

I always liked the daemon name M’kach’n. Think it was Tzeentchian and referee to a Lord of change though. In this thread grandfather Nurgle would be most unhappy.

          • benn grimm

For sure, it’s a cool name, Drach’nyen, N’kari, Belakor, Doombreed, Corbax etc etc, all cool af badass sounding names, then we have Hoppity Sloppity the jolly bagpipe player; just doesn’t fit in somehow, no idea why that might be…;)

  • Damon Sherman

wish I liked 8th more, would totally do a mono-Nurgle force.

  • I_am_Alpharius

Another two really solid models. Reckon we’ll see either of these being popular for painting competitions. The Nurgle Bagpipes are amazing!

  • Kabal1te

If Nergal can get bagpipes I hope that means orks are getting squigpipes on models soon. Google them if you aren’t familiar. The names and borderline cartoon sculpts are good, and in AoS they fit ok, not sure how I feel about them in 40k though.

    • chris harrison

Just to make things interesting, the squigpipes should be played while they are still alive.

      • Kabal1te

That’s the only way to play them.

    • frank

Love to see goffic rockers in 40k have a couple of bands of them complete with squig pipers laying around. been using them for a ork Slaanesh freebooters army as noise marines.

  • Luca Lacchini

Not really my cup of tea regarding demon sculpts, just as for Horticulous Slimux, but still very happy about the new GUO kit, and quite keen on developing my Nurgle forces both for AoS (Blightwar) and WH40K (Dark Imperium).

  • Talos2

I can feel anew daemon army coming on. I’m liking all these

  • Jonathan Ellsworth

Nurgling Familiars are the best miniatures ever

  • Nicholas Turner

I am really not liking the models. Nurglings I love though… Maybe if the piper had a kilt on I could do something with it… Really dont like the named characters they are doing for nurgle in AOS, they seem too cartoony and dont match the new great unclean one models at all.

  • Philip Estabrook

Yeah great, Nurgle has been getting nothing but love in 8th so far. But how about we give slaanesh and Khorne a little something?
