40K is Real: Real Life Chainsword

One maniacal german has built a beloved Space Marine weapon and put it through it’s bloody paces!

The Slingshot Channel has been making all kinds of “don’t try this at home”. With his over the top crazy contraptions, it was only a matter of time before Joerg turned his eye to the Grimdark. Take a look at his chainsword! it slices it – dices and it cuts through some surprising things!

His videos are worth it just for his maniacal laughter.

Real Life Chainsword Prototype (start at 8:10)

“…As a bonus, the world’s first chain saw sword is presented, too. Made from a battery powered Black and Decker mini chain saw, the weapon features a two hand-grip. The batteries have been moved into the handle so the outline stays sleek.”

Real Life Chainsword Mk.II

“The Chainsword from Warhammer 40k is now a reality!
Based on a streamlined and souped up Black and Decker chainsaw, the weapon can saw through flesh and wood with ease. ”

    I love Jörg Sprave

  • Hawt Dawg

That dude in the first picture is screaming “I’ll… KILL YOU… ALL!!!” laughing like a maniac.

  • EnTyme

Well, my Father’s Day shopping is now done.

  • Xodis

    Someone is going to die

  • Neal Laxman

    It’s a bit sh##… Couldn’t even cut a fricken cabbage.

    • crumbreaper

in the grim dark future this guy is tickling his way through your power armor

      • Neal Laxman

With a maniacal laugh don’t forget.

    • ZeeLobby

I mean the whole premise of welding chainswords in a world of power armor is kind of silly to begin with. They would loose teeth, jam up, etc. Before you made it through your first Ork. a super sharp combat knife or ideally power weapon is definitely the way to go.

      • LordKrungharr

Not Kharn’s chainaxe! Its teeth are ripped from the jaws of a mica dragon. And I’m sure the handheld motors of the future will be way more high speed and high torque than what Black and Decker currently makes.

        • ZeeLobby

Will they though? I mean there’s certain limitations that physics puts on a chain fed device. And if they’ve somehow created frictionless machinery they should be a lot further along then they are.

      • JPMcMillen

What about kick back? That’s one of the biggest dangers to the wielder of a chainsaw type weapon.

        • ZeeLobby

Yeah. Awesome factor is a 10. Reality factor is a 2.

    • gordonshumway

Didn’t watch the Mk.II did we?

  • Defenestratus

Have to say that I’m not really impressed.

First off they used a … black and decker… electric…. saw.

Second, the blade is laughably short.

    • Dennis Finan Jr

I hope your not serious? Did you honestly believe that there was gonna be a real chainsword?

      • Xodis

Well, he COULD have grabbed a microfusion backpack at Wal-mart to at least power the thing right?

        • CMAngelos

Eh Walmarts have a tendency to spontaneously rupture and irradiate everything, you’re much better going with Lowe’s or Home Depot.

          • Xodis

Because we can do it, but they can help? lmao!

          • CMAngelos

I believe the slogan is “You can purge it, we can help” but I could be wrong!

        • Skathrex

There are no Wal-marts in Germany. You could go to a “Home-Depot” Style store, but that would be a lot more expensive

  • benn grimm

More chainknife than chainsword, but hey, I’m guessing a full size chainsword might well be a little expensive to produce. Somewhat impractical also I’d imagine…

    • CMAngelos

At least he admits it’s stupid..

    • Kritarion

      Must… resist… eating…. joke

  • Heinz Fiction

As always: the germans invented it first! But no doubt the americans will be the first to make money with it. Same as with the light bulb, the car and the computer…

  • DeadlyYellow

Pfft. Those electric chainsaws don’t have that wonderful roaring throttle. Easier to start, but lacks the thrill of their gas-powered brethren.

  • JimOnMars

Does that guy look like a genestealer to you?

  • euansmith
  • Chris

And so it begins & nearly 30k Years later this Item is the standard CCW for all Astartes 😀
