Infinity: Filling out the Haqqislam Red Veil Starter

   infinity-haqqislam-red-veil-starter

I’m back for another Red Veil article. Today I discuss my ideas for growing the Haqqislam starter.

As I’ve often said, I don’t think there is any best army in Infinity. Every faction has so much to offer at this point that there’s just no way to pin down that perfect 300 point list. Even the most seasoned player can only base their decisions on what has worked for them on the table. That having been said, I think I’ve come up with some ideas for how I would grow the Haqqislam starter.

Maghariba

A quick apology to those who read my article on growing the Red Veil Yu Jing starter. This may sound a bit familiar… My first suggestion on expanding the Haqqislam starter is a slight variation on the suggestion in the Red Veil book. There they advise taking the Maghariba TAG along with a named character to fill the gap to 300. I think adding a Maghariba is a fun idea. The model is cool and TAGs are fun to play with. Rather than take the named character, I would simply add the Haqqislam support pack. The Doctor and Engineer are crucial for achieving certain objectives. Additionally, the Engineer can offer some help to the TAG against certain Hacking programs that can Isolate it and render it nearly useless. Unfortunately this list is missing a Hacker, but you can drop the two Nasmats to upgrade one of the FO Ghulams to the job. I’ve yet to meet the Infinity player who wouldn’t happily allow a proxy for something like this, but for competitive play, you’ll want to buy the Ghulam box to get the actual model. One last thing – if you are trying to build up towards a Ramah Taskforce sectorial all these models should be usable in it.

Speaking of buying the Ghulam box, that’s another way to grow the Red Veil Haqqislam army. If you prefer to have more bodies on the ground you should consider the four Ghulams over the TAG. Ghulams are also usable in every sectorial so far so if you decide to focus on one all these guys will be there for you. There’s even enough space to fit in a Warcors who can ARO with his Flash Pulse and maybe blind a much more valuable model. In this list I’ve made the Zhayedan the Lt. so a third Ghulam can become a Forward Observer squeezing out the maximum points. I’m not entirely sure this is the right choice so feel free to try it either way. Oh and if you don’t mind shelling out a few more bucks, you could grab the Muttawi’ah box and stick one of those five point suckers in this list to get an even 300. These guys are a real terror to TAGs with their EM spray, but the odds of one of them Isolating a TAG all by their lonesome are slim. Also they only come in the box of four, and you’d be left with three models that don’t fit this list. But you could always use them in another list later so…

Utility

There are certain things I hate to take to the tabletop without. A big one in this department is the Multispectral Visor. Without one of these handy, Camo models will have a much easier time sneaking up close and causing trouble. Haqqislam has only two troops with this gear. The level 2 visor on the Djanbazan is the best available in the faction, so I’ve added one of these guys to this list. I’ve also added one of the signature Haqqislam pieces, the Lasiq with Viral Sniper Rifle. While this model’s weapon is a big part of the appeal, it also has Mimetism, Climbing Plus, and a handy X-Visor to keep the Sniper Rifle from sucking when enemies get up close.

~Hope you enjoyed the article. How would you fill out the Haqqislam Red Veil Starter? Am I too obsessed with specialists?

  • Richard Mitchell

That is an awesome looking TAG.

  • Jesse Cavazos

Can never go wrong with a Lasiq. Lasiq eye surgery, performed by a highly-trained Hassassin.

Is there an army builder for this game? I have the Red Veil and Icestorm, the miniatures look awesome and all, but when I look at the rules and the units….it’s pretty overwhelming. The basics are simple enough, but there are so many variables to all the gimmick rules and the units have many separate entries (for example PanO has 9 different fusiliers). That’s a lot to digest so someone not so experienced, like me, would benefit a lot from an app that gathers the information needed in to one place to help with the otherwise constant rules checking.
