Warhammer: Vermintide Hits Consoles

The Skaven invasion to your living room has begun – Vermintide is now out for Consoles!

“The wait is finally over and the Heroes of Ubersreik have now come to PlayStation 4™ and Xbox One.”

“October 4th has finally come, and the Skaven will forever remember the day the console players joined the fight!” says Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark. “They have waited patiently for their chance to decimate the dreaded rat-men army and the day has now come.”

“The consoles also get an extended version that includes all DLCs released for the PC version to date”

Vermintide was originally released on PC back in October of 2015. It currently has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam. It’s been described as “Left4Dead with a Warhammer twist + Phat Loots” and after getting to play the game, I can see why. If your looking for an awesome multiplayer game with friends then I’d suggest taking a look at this game. It’s certainly a good single player experience with the AI, but when you’re playing with 3 other buddies it’s just a fantastic experience.

Porting this game over to consoles is a pretty smart move for the developers and it’s been getting some pretty good responses from the beta players. Also, getting the “base game + all current DLC” for $39.99 is a steal. November is a notoriously brutal month for Games Launching on Consoles. The fact that this game is trying to avoid that holiday rush and hit consoles a month early is a smart move. This game has the potential to be one of those perennial games in my collection that I just keep going back to for the “Heroes vs Horde” style gameplay.

Vermintide Xbox / PS4

Vermintide takes place in and around Ubersreik, a city overrun by Skaven. You will assume the role of one of five heroes, each featuring different play-styles, abilities, gear and personality. Working cooperatively, you must use their individual attributes to survive an apocalyptic invasion from the hordes of relentless rat-men, known as the Skaven. Battles will take place across a range of environments stretching from the top of the Magnus Tower to the bowels of the Under Empire.

So many Skaven. So little time…

  • Oggthrok

Another great opportunity for a wider audience to fall in love with the world of Warhammer.
And then learn they blew it up in 2015 🙂

    • Richard Mitchell

Ssshhhh….you can’t talk like that here.

      • Oggthrok

I had to make the joke before someone else did. 😉
I love me some AoS, I just still can’t believe they blew up what is, apparently, still a very marketable IP to create it.
It’ll be nice to play Vermintide on Xbox though, I never got to play the PC incarnation.

    • Badgerboy1977

They do call it “the end times” so that should be some sort of hint.

Regardless it is pretty funny. “I want to build an army around that awesome town I played in, what was it called, ‘Ubersreik’, yeah, that one. Wait what? It doesn’t exist anymore? The world’s gone? What’s an Orukk? Why are the dwarves all naked and orange? What if I don’t want to fight for the city of blood on the pool of blood, on the top of puss mountain, flying over the ravine of god tears?”

        • Sebastien Bazinet

“Why are the dwarves all naked and orange? ” AoS…the Jersey edition!

    • Scarlet Wong

Nice one! AOS is not going to replace our passion!

  • CatachanCommissar

I can’t wait for them to release the tabletop version of the end times. It looks really cool.

    • Jesse Cavazos

      I know, right?

  • Benderisgreat

  • Thyran Gumm

More importantly…. If my friends play on console can I play with them on PC?

  • Dennis Finan Jr

Its a pretty fun game. I usually stick to madden but this is pretty fun

  • Joe

I really liked this game on PC. Playing with the soldier shield bashing the incoming Skaven so everyone behind me could kill them when they were knocked to the ground was satisfying. And the sheer number of Skaven in some parts was insane.

  • Shrew Perman

I do like me a bit of Vermintide and the Drachenfels maps are gorgeous too. It is just a shame that the Old World is no more 🙁 That said, I do quite like AoS as a game even if I don’t follow the lore quite so closely.

Sadly, there is an issue of the game freezing during the opening cutscene, but the audio still continues. -_-
