40K Overview: Traitor Legions

The Traitor Legions are getting a new book and we’re taking a peek inside the covers!

You’ve probably heard the news by now that Games Workshop has a new Traitors Legions book coming. Well we’ve got our hands on one and we’re showing off what you can expect in this new Codex Supplement for the Chaos Space Marines:

When the Space Marines got their Angels of Death Supplement players were happy to see a consolidated list of units for the Space Marines and some unique stuff for those first founding chapters – White Scars, Imperial Fists, Iron Hands, Salamanders and Raven Guard.  Traitor Legions is that for all of the Chaos Space Marine legions! The original 9 Traitor Legions ALL get their own Legion Specific rules, Warlord Traits, Chaos Artefacts, Tactical Objectives and an exclusive “Decurion-Style” Detachment.

The Traitor Legions book basically slots on top of the Chaos Space Marine book, just like Angels of Death does for Space Marines. It’s got updated rules for some of the newer units (like all the Wrath of Magnus units) and the formations from Black Legion. This book also has a page or two dedicated to each Legion’s lore as well. It also has a massive section for the art and photos of each of these legions. However, this book is really for those of you who like rules to chew on. Goatboy already did a pretty solid rundown of how he would rank the legion specific rules.

If you are looking to create an army of one of the nine original Traitor Legions from the Heresy then this book is for you. Watch the video to see some examples of how everything is laid out. I’m glad that each legion got some of their uniqueness back in a way that mirrors their loyalist cousins. I can’t wait to see what else the community does when this book hits shelves on the 10th!

Traitor Legions

traitor-legionsThe Traitor Legions of the Chaos Space Marines have waged terrible wars of hate and vengeance upon the Imperium of Mankind for ten thousand years. From the Daemon worlds of the Eye of Terror, they plot the destruction of the empire they once helped to build. They have neither forgotten nor forgiven the loyalists, nor the False Emperor whom they serve. These warriors will not rest until the galaxy is burning, and the Emperor’s putrid carcass is cast down from the Golden Throne into the filth where it belongs.

Codex Supplement: Traitor Legions is a 136-page, full-colour softback supplement to Codex: Chaos Space Marines. It contains a wealth of additional content and rules that any Chaos Space Marines army can use, with a huge array of rules for all nine of the Traitor Legions.

The Traitor Legions return and they finally have that “Chaos Flavor” back!

Oh, nice to know that BOLS deleted my sarcastic, a little criticizing two-word comment on this article, which was even totally devoid of mild language or anything the like. Very democratic move.

“Then we have the Kakophani; this is obviously for the Thousand Sons.”
