Horus Heresy: Tallarn $30 (Hardcover)

As the Warmaster’s campaign of galactic domination continues, his generals seek out fresh battlefields to conquer. After leaving the Crone World of Iydris behind, Perturabo strikes for Tallarn. A bitter, vengeful primarch, the lord of the Iron Warriors unleashes a deadly bombardment against the world, killing millions but entrenching the survivors. A brutal, all-consuming armoured conflict ensues, the greatest of the war, and one that grinds down all combatants over more than a year of relentless battles. But Perturabo’s reasons for the attack are about more than unleashing punitive destruction against the Imperium – he has an entirely darker purpose in mind.

Written by John French

Realmgate Wars: Lord of Undeath  $16 (Paperback)

THE STORY
Nagash. A name whispered in fear, even by the dread followers of the Dark Gods. Once a member of Sigmar’s pantheon, the Great Necromancer has not been seen in an age, ever since that mighty assemblage of divine beings parted ways. In his absence, the Mortarchs, Nagash’s fell lieutenants, have been free to pursue their own ends, though ever beneath the oppressive shadow of the forces of Chaos. As that same shadow seeks to smother them all, so too do storm clouds gather, as Sigmar’s Stormcast Eternals arrive to deliver a crushing counter-strike against the Ruinous Powers. The grim Anvils of the Heldenhammer have been given the seemingly impossible task of seeking out and forging an alliance with the God of Death. Whether the Stormcast Eternal’s entreaties will be acted upon, or even heard, remains to be seen – and if they are, at what price?

~What are you picking up?

  • georgelabour

That repulsor is going to look better with about a third of its lift units trimmed down or removed entirely. and I’d definitely replace whatever plastic stem used in its base with a nice bit of brass rod and a magenet.

    • Dan Wilson

I can guarantee there will be someone that will do the levitating magnets job on it. If I get one or two I’ll be putting green LEDs on the underneath to give it a pulsating wub wub look. It also needs at least half those rocket pods and ammunition racks cut down too. I straight up don’t like the turret. Would rather have land raider sponsons where the doors are.

      • I wish I had the skills/know how to add LEDs to these things. 40k tanks are the perfect platform since they’re almost all hollow and have plenty of room for electronics.

        • Cergorach

Although the LEDs might melt the plastic…

Or did I the wrong things with LEDs in my youth? (They always exploded 😉

    • Beorthulf Gudmundsoetir

Agreed, though I wonder what are the chance of a dual kit with tracks

      • Dan Wilson

I don’t think it will be a dual kit with tracks, just get a land raider? But I’m hoping it will be a dual kit with an alternate to the turret, as I said, sponsons etc. Or less weapons for greater transport capacity.

        • 301stFeinminsterArmoured

I afraid you’re out of luck. The codex has been pretty well spoiled on youtube, and there’s only one repulsor tank unit entry.

    • Graham Bartram

It would look better with a few less weapon systems on it’s turret. It looks way overcrowded to me. I’m not too keen on those front handles either, it’s asking to be swung around by a bigass daemon or ‘nid.

      • orionburn

Definitely is too crowded. It looks better without the storage packs on the rear end so leaving the grenade/missile launchers off the turret may help clean it up big time. This is a textbook example of less is more.

      • orionburn

Actually, those front handles would make for a good Golden Daemon entry. You could have a Knight pistol whipping another Knight with the Repulsor 😛

        • 301stFeinminsterArmoured

Could my dream of a Gallant suplexing a Landraider become a reality?

    • ZeeLobby

But the you totally lose the flying sneaker effect!

  • tinythebig

Tallarn: hardcover. Runtime 12 hours 54 minutes.
So is it a paper book or an audiobook?

    • why it is a hardcover audiobook of course!

I am guessing you can pick either the hardcover or the audiobook option. But no prizes for the quality of that proof reading before it was sent out. 😉

  • Luca Lacchini

30€ for a character, thanks, I’ll keep my old stuntyMarine ones.

    • CloakingDonkey

it’s 20 if you buy at the right place… but yeah still very pricey

      • Spacefrisian

Its 5 if you buy 2 sets of 3 Intercessors, making 1 unit of 5 and a character.

  • Rainthezangoose

Do we know if this month’s white dwarf has anything WarhammerQuest related. Hammerhals got squat so far which is a disappointment.

    • Xodis

Yeah I keep hoping they throw in some AoS or WHQ material in the WD just to break up the constant 40K releases…no such luck. Then again the 40K fans complained about this during AoS’s long drawn out release too.

      • ZeeLobby

I liked old WD where they actually had dedicated sections for each one of their systems so there was always some content each month. I haven’t paid attention but do the new ones do this? Or is it all just mixed in?

        • Xodis

Its kind of all mixed together. The “new hotness” gets most of the space, couple painting articles, some lore on some random stuff, etc.. Every once in awhile we get some added rules/missions for either one of the boardgames or a system. Its been awhile though, and all the content they share on FB and the Warhammer Community site kind of steps on the content in the WD.

          • ZeeLobby

Ah. Well hopefully they’ll iron things out over the next year. I mean this is the first time they’ve ever really done more than just WD, haha.

    • Rainthezangoose

Yeah it’s really put me off, I’ve only bought a few since the reboot and honestly feel like it’s just as it was before just monthly. Not a wisker on the WD’s of old. Then again I’m just salty becusse I preordered HammerHal when I’m not finished painting silver tower and I did so expecting some stuff in a white dwarf down the line. The fact that one is more narrative with less replayablity means the fact there isn’t a white dwarf exclusive campaign has tarnished my support for the brand and puts me off buying the next set. If there was one.

  • Dennis J. Pechavar

Sad that even the new super sized marine characters are cheaper than a Mechanicus tech priest dominus.

    • Mike G

I see the tech priest new on ebay for $20 or slightly less quite frequently, not to mention he is basically free if you buy the Start Collecting! set. No such deal right now for Primaris characters.

  • Shadowstrife

Nice to see GW throwing old Nagy a bone. Does this mean a new Death faction is underway?

    • Alexander Lucard

it is a paperback version of a book that came out two years ago.

    • Xodis

Supposedly Death is getting a full release to go with the Path of Glory stand alone book….that rumor kind of faded away though once 40K news took over.

      • orionburn

I need to start a new army like I need a new hole in my head, but always wanted to do those guys. Love my Lizardmen but the Death stuff is so freaking cool looking.

        • Xodis

Yeah Im ready for the Death Train!!! but not until they get a release that does them justice. Have Stormcast, Bloodborn/Chaos Undivided, and will just need a Destruction army after this lol.

  • ZeeLobby

Wonder how long til they upscale other factions to get away with $35 price points for characters.

    • orionburn

It’s amazing what an extra $3-4 will do to change one’s opinion on pricing. Lot of other GW characters were coming in at $30 or slightly over. Something about $35 for a single character is seriously rough to accept. When you think of a 5 man “squad” of characters costing you $175 it really stops you in your tracks.

      • ZeeLobby

I dunno. I had trouble at $30. Lol. It just reached a point where you create a list and then add up what it would cost to build it and your jaw hit the floor. The fact that it’s only going more and more in that direction is definitely off-putting. I wonder how long til we get our first $40 “regular” sized character.

        • orionburn

I love most everything of the Primaris stuff and want to do a full on Primaris army, but dayum it’s going to be expensive. Will have to rely on Ebay discount sellers once the hype for the new stuff dies down a bit. These guys are going to be on the backburner for awhile. I’m hoping that at Christmas time they’ll do one of those big box discount deals. Works for me because with my current schedule that will be the earliest chance I have to really start building/painting these guys.

  • Xodis

Despite all the “this is an expensive hobby” BS, when you start seeing $80 tanks and $35 Characters as the norm, it really makes you start reconsidering this hobby choice.
I haven’t furrowed my brow on a price since the GTX Titan got a $2000+ price tag…..might have to think about cutting back on hobbies or focusing on just a couple.

    • GravesDisease

I tried my hand at a few other game systems and was horrified to see GW actually being cheaper. Guild ball, for example, you’re spending £50 for 6 dudes. Similarly I’ve taken up netrunner as a hobby and now i’m haemorraging £12 a month for the card updates.

Hobbies are just expensive now these days!

      • Xodis

Yeah, extreme PC gaming is probably the most expensive after GW (40K AND AoS), but all the little side games and board games and RPGs might have to get thinned out a LOT lol.

  • Ryan Miller

tank looks like a ‘raider and a ‘speeder had mutant puppies… want one!

  • I love that Chaplain figure, but $35 is so steep. Even though I expected it after seeing the captain prices, I still don’t like it. I might have to customize one of the 3 gravis captains I have now(after trades) into a chaplain. I wonder if the Reiver helmet will fit inside the cowl….

  • CthulhuDawg

If I remember right a single metal Killa Kan was $35. These prices aren’t new and now you get a bigger better sculpt for characters and kans are $45 for 3 with more options. Plastics are the mad notes.
