40K: “Talons of the Emperor” Updated

The Talons of the Emperor box gets an updated rules packet for 8th!

via Game Workshop

Earlier this year when the Talons of the Emperor Boxed set came out, it was the starting point for anyone that wanted to play a Sisters of Silence/Adeptus Custodes force. However, that meant that all the rules inside were designed with 7th in mind. But now, Games Workshop is offering a new rules packet when you purchase a copy of this box so you can use all the models in your games of 8th!

“From today, when you pick up your Talons of the Emperor box, either in-store or online, you’ll also get a booklet containing rules for all the units in the box for the new edition of Warhammer 40,000. With all the datasheets and points inside, this means you won’t even need a copy of Index: Imperium 2 to use your models.”

“If you’ve already picked up your Talons of the Emperor box, there’s good news for you too: so long as you have your proof of purchase, you can claim your free booklet by getting in contact with your local Games Workshop customer service team.”

That’s right – if you did purchase a copy of the box and you need a copy of the rules packet contact GW directly and see what they can do to help you out. The Talons of the Emperor box is currently listed as a limited run on the GW website so if you were thinking about rocking these Golden-Gilded warriors of the Emperor now you can in 8th edition!

Talons of the Emperor $160

This product includes an 8 page booklet containing all the datasheets and rules for these miniatures for use in the new edition of Warhammer 40,000.

The storm continues to gather with dreadful pace. A rising tide of Chaos darkens the door of the Imperium, threatening to consume the entire galaxy. In this time of desperation, the High Lords of Terra see fit to unleash their most potent weapons against the encroaching darkness – the Adeptus Custodes, superhuman champions of the Imperium descended from the Emperor himself; and the Sisters of Silence, psychic nulls whose mere presence is like a gaping void of nothingness driving back the Daemonic fiends.

Talons of the Emperor is a box containing a collection of Adeptus Custodes and Sisters of Silence miniatures.

A 5-man set of Adeptus Custodes, which can be used to assemble one of two squads – one armed with guardian spears, one armed with sentinel blades and storm shields. One model can be assembled as a shield-captain, with a cloak and choice of 2 heads, and one model can wield a Custodes Vexila. Includes 5 Citadel 40mm Round bases.

A Contemptor Dreadnought, armed with a choice of multi-melta or assault cannon. Includes a Citadel 60mm Round base.

A Venerable Land Raider, armed with lascannons and heavy bolter, with options for storm bolter, missile launcher and smoke launchers.

A 5-woman set of Sisters of Silence, which can be used to make either a Vigilator squad, who specialise in melee and carry executioner greatswords, a Prosecutor squad, who operate more flexibly and carry bolters for longer-range combat or a Witchseeker squad, who carry flamers for devastating multi-target assaults. It includes 6 executioner greatswords, 5 Umbra-pattern boltguns and 5 flamers as well as 2 special heads for a Sister Superior.

A Null-Maiden Rhino, armed with storm bolter and smoke launchers.

Please note, this product is available while stocks last.

You can also pickup Index: Imperium 2 for all their rules and points values if you don’t have your proof of purchase.

That Contemptor dread makes me angry every time I see it. Such a horrible pose. Big miss when they brought that over to plastic, which is a real shame.

    • Wolf-Assassin

i agrea with you but i have biger problems with the rules. Why wont GW allow Space Wolves to have a Contemptor? the FW rules do allow it but with restricting Relic rule.

      • Philip Estabrook

Just make your detachment an Adeptus Astartes one. Until they get chapter traits it doesn’t change their rules.

  • ellobouk

still no Custodes HQ choice though 🙁

    • Amdor

My perfect army was Malleus Inq Termy with force axe and 3 land raiders full of golden boys xD
Might be interesting what gw digs for hq eventually
