AoS: Malign Portents – The Falling Star

Age of Sigmar’s Malign Portents has yet another teaser video – what does it all mean?

Games Workshop has a new video showcasing another clue about the Malign Portents:

“The Falling Star”

Malign Portents webpage is still just as cryptic. If you’d like to check out the previous videos you can do that below:

“The Icon”

“The Ship”

“The Field”

All we know for sure about this supplement is that these two models are going to be involved:

11 days to go…

  • Hagwert

I may be a huge Old World fan, but this new fluff approach is really intriguing me as I much prefer the ” Something wicked this way comes ” style to the Flash Gorden/Robbie and his magic rocket pants approach which characterised the early days of AOS.

    • Christie Bryden

I agree I like the concept of a storyline that advances, as much as I loved the old setting it was rather stagnant.

      • Oat

It took a while for me to come around but now I quite like the advancing story line and how it feels more alive than the old world’s story which felt stale after a while with nothing really happening

        • Christie Bryden

indeed, it was just saying the end times is coming for years. Now if Age of sigmar can stop flooding us with stormcast and instead use more intersting factions, make it feel maybe that the good guys dont massivly outnumber everyone else combined.

          • Oat

I’m just getting into the game after a long break from anything GW. I’m doing stormcast but I’m also rebasing the beastmen I’ve kept from all the mini purges I did over the years.

However I do agree that really they need to start rolling out more factions and move onto more destruction and Chaos factions to balance the whole narrative

          • Christie Bryden

I dont hate order, infact it was the fire dwarfs that first made me think, this setting could work, the replacment to wood elves and the flying dwarfs were also awesome, but I sigh when ever I see a new stormcast, as I think, the time used for this could have gone to something far more interesting.

          • Matthew Pomeroy

I would really be much more interested in AoS if it finally took the steps forward to add the new factions and “phase out” the old, let it stand on its own feet instead of trying to ride WHFB’s coat tails.

  • EnTyme

I’ve seen a lot of people on Facebook and forums think that the shooting star confirms this will be another Sigmar-focused event, and that may well be the case, but wouldn’t it be a twin-tailed comet if it was supposed to represent Sigmar?

I suppose it could be considered sort of undead.

      Its rotting at least.

What is it with the weird echos on this site? I’ve not seen it elsewhere, but messages like these, and Kabal1te and Leo Bohm’s below are an odd little occurrence around here. Maybe Echo is the new First, and I’ve been missing out?

        • EnTyme

I honestly think there are bots on this site that copy+paste others comments.

  • Kabal1te

I am pretty sure the point of as this is too be nonsensicaly cryptic. None of these videos really mean anything and they likely ultimately won’t amount to anything but theme and ambiance. They are too short and to simple to be some overly complex hidden message or some such like that. Like the rumor engines the point is there isn’t enough here for a proper guess.

    • AEZ

But someone will be right.. or will say they where right all along.. and it’s just views, talks, chats etc etc. It’s good marketing.

      • Kabal1te

I would much rather they come out and actually talk about the future of age of sigmar fluff and how they are going to actually develop it into something more than a parade of sigmarines and ambiguity.

        • AEZ

I think order will stay very focussed on Stormcasts.. mainly since they are the driving force and the ones with intention of getting stuff done. The limited lore on about every other order factions is more about defense. I think the other Grand Alliances will get their prime time too though.

  • AEZ

Doesn’t it mean sigmar will be reborn… and THAT means we have to kill him quickly.

    • zeno666

      He’s the Emperor

  • Simon Chatterley

Karl Franz walks out of the shower…it was all a dream

    • orionburn III

A quality joke that so few will likely get. I’m old…lol

      • thereturnofsuppuppers

Ha yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever met a wargamer that’s heard of showers.

    • Drpx

“….and the whole world was gone, and every unit was a skirmisher!”

  • Spacefrisian

Sisters of battle in a plastic thunderhawk with upgrade options for Primaris marines, duh. Everyone can see that

    • euansmith

I’m squinting as hard as I can, but all I can see is a Squat Forge Star moving in to orbit over Terra, about to open a Galactic Sized Can of Grudge Slaps on their preferred ancient enemy.

  • Leo Bohm

one of the downsides of such an infinite setting, these “portents” are just any day ending in “Y” somewhere in some plane.
