BL: Advent 2017 – Day 18 “The Rage of Asmodai”

An audio drama of Asmodai hunting the Fallen while a Relictor just tries to do his job.

If you’ve been waiting to get caught-up on your fill of Black Library back-stories and lore then now is the time of year to jump in. Running from December 1st until December 24th, Black Library will have something to read, listen to, or just check out for all things Games Workshop. You can grab them individually or pick up the whole thing as part of the Advent Calendar Subscription.

In what I imagine to be a “typical” day for anyone who has to deal with the Dark Angels, one of the Captains of the relictors is just trying to do his job, maybe put an end to some Chaos types, file a few expense reports and go home. Meanwhile, Asmodai is trying to find the Fallen and be brooding and edgy.

A Warhammer 40,000 audio drama

Captain Vidarna of the Relictors finds a mission to capture a Chaos artefact complicated by Dark Angels Chaplain Asmodai, who has his own sinister mission.

Two Space Marine Chapters who each have their own dark agenda cross paths – with explosive results.

Captain Vidarna of the Relictors leads a squad of his brothers in pursuit of a dark artefact on a world riven by heresy. But the appearance of Chaplain Asmodai of the Dark Angels changes his mission. The Dark Angel claims to have the relic they seek – but to claim it, the Relictors need to aid him in capturing the leader of the rebellion, a mysterious black-armoured Space Marine whose armour bears symbols similar to that of the Dark Angels themselves…

“I just want to destroy this artefact, Asmodai.” “But what if it knows about–THE FALLEN. Better interrogate it. Just to be safe.”

    Wait, the Relictors aren’t Renegades?!

    • Alexander Lucard

They’re akin to the Soul Drinkers. They are heretics due to the Imperium being jerks, but they’re not evil or Pro-Chaos. They just try to beat Chaos by using their own tactics and powers against them.

      • SilentPony

But I thought they were officially declared Renegades and the Grey Knights put the smack down on them?

        • NovaeVox

We don’t know how far back in the timeline the story is set. Also, was event you’re mentioning in the post Eye of Terror (3rd Ed.) timeline; or the post Gathering Storm (7th Ed.) timeline?

          • SilentPony

Well this story has to take place after the Pandorax Campaign in 959-961 M.41 where the DA learn Epimetheus is still alive and the Black Legion have him.
So I guess it works as the Relictors are declared Renegades in 999.m41
Though as you say, that’s old lore, and Guilliman says the galactic calendar is at least 1,000 years off, so at this point who knows…

It was just curious Asmodai knows exactly what the Relictors are about

“The Rage of Asmodai”, I thought this was going to be about France’s largest games manufacturer getting upset with GW.
