The final battle between light and dark, life and death, is coming and the throne will be claimed by the victor. The last season of the acclaimed series hits small screens this coming April, and HBO is dropping more hints at what is to come.

At the end of season seven Stark, Targaryen, Lannister, Greyjoy, and several other houses are still standing – some of the smaller houses are holding on as the threat looms. Ignoring the threat of cold and darkness is no longer an option. The first teaser for the final season showed a map of Westeros being engulfed by ice and fire. The ice from the north – where the White Walkers breached the Wall at the end of season seven – taking over The Last Hearth and Karhold on its way to Winterfell.

In the clip that dropped over the weekend we see the siblings facing the past in crypts of Winterfell, and readying to confront a faceless foe. On first glance it doesn’t show a lot – it was certainly filmed as a teaser – but HBO loves to hide layers of meaning that only the biggest fans will get. See what you can extract from this new look…

The curious thing I noticed about this clip is that while Sansa and Jon both get told something by their long gone relatives, Arya does not. Pretty much everything they do in these things means something… what does that mean?

Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres in April 14th.
