Hi guys. Here we see a conversion of the Primarch Mortarion, from Pake. This is Pake’s second Mortarion, as he wanted a different look from his first attempt (which I purchased for my own Death Guard army) 🙂

Lets have pake take it away:

The Parts used are:
– Inquisitor scale model
– Pegasus wings
– Ogre Bull sword for scythe
– A LOT of Green Stuff.

I used the GW Inquisitor scale Navis Nobilitai model and slapped a pair of Pegasus wings on his back. I replaced the original staff with a scythe which is made from plastic tube, Ogre Bull sword and Green Stuff. His original arms were replaced with zombie arms. Most of the detail was removed with a needle file and the chest armor, censer balls, breathing mask and chains were sculpted with Green Stuff. All this took me about 20 to 25 hours to complete.

I deliberately gave him a static pose because I think it represents Mortarion as he is described in the books; a silent, quiet observer in the background. But when you look at him, you know you have been visited by Death himself!

As for painting, I wanted to step away from the “standard” Mortarion grey/white and make him look more “death-like” or “image of death himself”. So I primed him black, highlighted the robe with black mixed with various greys. The armor and all golden bits were painted with Brazen brass and highlighted up to Mithril Silver with Brown ink, Badab Black and Purple Ink washes after every step. The wings were drybrushed with various greys and additional washes in between and finally drybrushed with Rotting Flesh.

~Please feel free to ask anything about the build or the paint job, I’m more than happy to answer!
