Battlefront just announced they are rolling out a global online ranking system with Rankings HQ, to allow both large events and infividual players the ability to enter and track their gaming stats worldwide. Here is the full info:

Battlefront Miniatures in conjunction with Rankings HQ, http://www.rankingshq.com/ , is pleased to announce the creation of a Flames of War international player ranking system. Tournament organizers will have the ability to post their tournament results on the Rankings HQ website and the system will calculate the scores for thousands of players. This ingenious system designed by Andrew Galea will finally settle those arguments between friendly rivalries, encourage players to attend lots of tournaments and reward those players who perform admirably at larger events. “The key component to making this ranking system a success is the fun factor,” comments John Matthews, Global General Manager of Battlefront Miniatures. “We want people to enjoy the rankings and most of all enjoy their hobby. We think friendly rivalries add to the excitement of the events but we don’t want players to lose focus on the reason why we teamed up with Rankings HQ.” [FUN]

The concept is incredibly easy and opens up a brand new world of competitive play for Flames of War tournament fanatics. Players who participate in ranked tournaments will automatically be enrolled in the ranking system and you can freely register on the Rankings HQ website. Players can participate in as many tournaments as they want and the rankings will sort each player based on their top four performances throughout the season. The more participants in a tournament the higher each player’s score will be. For example, winning a 50 person tournament earns more points than winning a 12 person tournament.

North American players who have been issued a Player ID dog tag will have a similar number in the Rankings HQ website. Your Player ID will be incorporated in the number 100,000 so if your Player ID is 604 your Rankings HQ number will be 100,604. Players may still request a Player ID dog tag which will continue to be used for Regional Qualifiers and now can be used for Rankings.

Tournament organizers, clubs and stores interested in hosting a ranked event will need to contact Battlefront Miniatures, [email protected] , in order to add the tournament to the schedule. A minimum of 12 players who participated in the tournament are required for a ranked event.

First in are Adepticon (http://www.adepticon.org/ ) and Spring Recruits (http://recruits.mtswebsites.com/ )!!! There results officially kick off the rankings for 2010 and those players who attended already have a jump start. Check out www.flamesofwar.com or www.rankingshq.com for a complete listing of all the ranked tournaments. Look for the Rankings HQ logo to verify the event you are going to is ranked and if it doesn’t have a logo ask your tournament organizer why it isn’t ranked.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the battlefield and remember to have fun, keep it clean and remember there is no whining in the combat zone!!

~I had the pleasure of meeting up with the Battlefront and Ranking HQ folks at Adepticon, and they are very excited about rolling out a global player tracking system that can be used by not only the big tournaments, but smaller groups of local players who just want to track their stats. I wouldn’t be surprised to see other system being added in the future. Go check it out.
