Centurions – It is a Suit Within a Suit – Plus STERNGUARD!!!

This closeup shot is the first glimpse seen of the REAR of the Centurions so far.  And here is what one of the designers has to say about the new design:

“Q: Where are the pilot’s arms?

A: They are crossed over his chest in the front, behind the big torso plate and the secondary weapons. And the pilot actually steps into the suit from behind.  The top section hinges up – you can see the harness that straps him in – and the back of the suit opens up to allow access.”

So it does look like we are dealing not with a fully enclosed suit like Terminator Armor, or a Dreadnought, but with a power assisted combat harness.  Basically, the Centurions are scaled down Dreadknights, and based on the picture up there, the pilot is wearing his standard power armor while strapped in.

To me it does have a kind of techmarine servo-harness construct feel to it.  I guess we can now officially kick off all the turducken jokes now.
