From Drop Pods to Dreadnoughts… We live in a tumultuous time.  Episode 150 is here.

Hey guys,

We get to the first break early in this show so I can talk to the amazing Frank Turner.  He came though Atlanta and gave me the opportunity to talk to him backstage at the Tabernacle theater down town.  This interview part  has almost nothing to do with 40k, but totally worth the listen.  Since we’re on episode 150 I thought it would be cool to mix it up a bit with a music discussion.

If you are not already familiar with his music please check it out and if you can make it to one of his shows.. even better.  This dude is absolutely brilliant.

After the interview with Frank we get right back into the 40k talk discussing the hopeful feelings we have for all Dreadnoughts in the near future.  These things are just too cool to keep sitting on the shelves.

GW hit us again this week with the Spaces Wolves FAQ.  Poor old Logan Grimnar..  Once a staple of he table its possible that we may never see him again.  Could GW have changed his rules while leaving other chariot models unchanged?  I would like to think so since he is such an iconic character.  Still, it is likely best they didn’t. I miss the days of Arjac and Logan trucking it across the field causing mayhem.

Roused to War is a very interesting ‘house rule.’  I put the quotes there to allude to the fact that aren’t we supposed to be playing GW’s house rules as our actual rules?  They threw us this bone is a very responsible way to telegraph their intent without disrupting any of the previously printed material for the older codexes.

Let’s face it.. more attacks on Dreadnoughts just makes people feel better about them.  It barely increases their effectiveness because you STILL have to get them into combat.  The extra attacks now feel like a reward for crafty generalship.  I mention this on the show but sometimes Quantity is it’s own Quality so if you are taking dreads in excess you are more likely to make a difference with them by getting into close combat.   AV 13 on some with the limitation to grenades doesn’t sound too terrible, as long as they can get into base contact.

The chances of that are based on lots of factors but my advice is to skip anything that can be killed by str 6.  Load up on the AV 13.  A base Blood Angel Librarian Dreadnought is 150 points… With 5 attacks on the charge maybe he’s good in the right formation?  You tell me.

We can only hope that Chaos gets the same treatment soon. CSM are slipping farther and farther behind.  I am not saying that extra attacks on dreads makes Chaos any better right now…  I’m just saying it is salt in the wound. 🙂   That 14th Crusade isn’t going to win itself.

Please give the show a listen and let us know what you think. Thank you.

Each episode will be about an hour long. This ideally gives you something neat to listen to on your way to work, or on the way back home. Maybe you can even listen while you are painting or modeling!

FTN mostly focuses on Warhammer 40k, but again you will see in the first few episodes we take a severe deep dive into nerdom. These have been a blast to record and I hope they help pass the time for you.
