Relic Knights is about to get its 2nd Edition thanks to a successful Kickstarter, get in while you still can…

Relic Knights is a sci-fi skirmish game, or as Ninja Division puts it, a “quick and dynamic tabletop strategy battle game” that pits six factions against each other in a struggle for supremacy as the universe is consumed by the Darkspace Calamity–an ever encroaching horde of darkness that is held off only by the heroic Relic Knights.

What this translates to is a fast, fun game that lets you mix it up with a colorful cast of characters. Seriously, these are some of the most fun factions you can find out there.

There’s the Cerci Speed Circuit, which is basically an entire planet dedicated to racing, and they have their own racing mechs and minions that dash around the battlefield, being awesome:

Or act like a futuristic pit crew to repair or wreck things as needed…

And on the other side of things, there’s the heavily armored, melee focused Paladins of the Shattered Sword, who mostly seem to use lances, which, I guess makes sense, if their swords have all been shattered…

Only if you look at one of their leaders, it turns out that maybe not every sword has been shattered…

Which brings me to the next side of things. The gameplay centers around your cadre, or warband of models that are all there to support, fight with/for, and escort your leader model, which is either a relic knight or questing knight. Some of these cadres are powerful enough that a single model is enough. Others have a whole combo network thing going… here’s a quick video from the designers that talks about how to play:

And as you’ve seen, these models are gorgeous. I love the aesthetic of the robots and the characters… each of the factions has their own distinct feel. The way a Shattered Sword mech looks, sitting on the table, feels way different from the racing mechs of the Cerci Circuit, or the tough, mercenary units of the Black Diamond.

There are eight factions in all:

  • Black Diamond (Mercs)
  • Cerci Speed Circuit (Racers)
  • Doctrine (Witches/Magic Academy)
  • Noh Empire (Sexy Demons)
  • Shattered Sword (Knights and Melee)
  • Star Nebula Corsairs (Space Pirates!)
  • Radiant (High Tech)
  • Void (Dark Angels, but not the Space Marine kind)

You can get a full rundown of what’s on offer over at the Pledge Manager for Relic Knight. Their Kickstarter was super successful, and the game will be releasing before too long. But there’s still a chance to get in on some of the sweet deals and snag some Backer Exclusive models, including cosplay and pinup versions of some of the characters, novel, and bundles you won’t get elsewhere.

So head on over to their page, and hop in while you can! And keep scrolling for a preview of what you can snag for yourself…
