The Harlequin Codex is here, and that means that, in addition to all the new rules out there, waiting to clown around on the tabletop, there are also new lore bits to pore over. Here are some of the more interesting Lore Nuggets in the book.

That’s right. The book is officially out now, and Harlequin players are doubtless going through the new rules and figuring out how best to get your plastic space clowns to utterly devastate other, not quite as fast (or as frail) plastic dudes. But there’s also a ton of lore in the book, little things that hint at a massive arc that’s sort of happening right now.

First things first, we have the ultimate backup plan of Cegorach–the secret Final Act that shows off what the Laughing God’s greatest prank is: getting Slaanesh to hork up all the Aeldari souls she’s consumed. Or at least getting him to “spend his energy.” This is, of course, secured away in the Black Library (but we know that recently the Inquisition has been allowed to be inside it).

Then of course there’s the whole Ynnead thing. Possibly part of Cegorach’s backup plan–but possibly not, depending on which Harlequin you ask. It’s interesting–because in theory Ynnead came out of nowhere (well not nowhere, but still) and the Ynnari aren’t necessarily part of Cegorach’s master plan. But–the Harlequins love both drama and new masks, and here’s an opportunity for both.

A little more on Cegorach’s doings–the Harlequins (except for Solitaires) are by and large free from the fate of Slaanesh. Their souls are protected by Cegorach himself, who is doing something with the souls and it’s fine you shouln’t worry about it, so just stop asking.

And of course we have a little bit of information for those of you who don’t know everything there is to know about the Harlequins’ enigmatic deity, the C-Man himself, Cegorach.

And then here we have the other side of my favorite piece of lore from the Drukhari codex, Vect’s Funeral. Only this time, it’s from the other angle! It seems like Vect actually did die but was brought back via the magic of the Ynnead, and now Harlequin forces are owed a favor by the Supreme Overlord of Commorragh. What could possibly go wrong?

There’s literally only one way to find out–and that’s to check out our Q&A tomorrow, where we’ll be going through ch-ch-changes to the Harlequins.
