Warhammer: Age of Sigmar 2.0 is coming in June and with it Games Workshop has added 84 new Magical Items that you can add to your armies. To celebrate, let’s take a look at a handful of them!

When you’re writing your army list, you have the option to pick a Realm for your army to be from. Perhaps your Freeguild hail from Hammerhal Aqsha, in Aqshy, or perhaps your Slaves to Darkness raid the distant outskirts of Ghur. As well as providing you with loads of opportunities for roleplaying (not to mention painting and converting), you’ll be able to replace one of your normal Artefact picks with a special artefact from your chosen realm.

Let’s do some quick math – there are Seven Mortal Realms and each one has 6 Magical Weapons and 6 ‘other’ Artefacts to use. That’s a total of 84 additional items you can choose from! Now, GW has been teasing some of these in the previous weeks as part of the Faction Focuses. Today, we’re getting a look at a few more as well.

This first Artefact is from the Realm of Hysh. It’s a simple Brooch that helps you to have a chance at regaining those valuable Command Points. Remember, Command Point generation is different in AoS than in 40k – so having a way to keep recurring them can be very powerful!

Based on the name and the description, we’re guessing these hail from the Realm of Beasts known as Ghur. The Beastcaller’s Bones could potentially be devastating to Monster or mounted Hero. Shutting down a Monster’s attacks for even one round could help you turn the tide in a battle.

The next three artefacts of power are three different ranged weapons you can choose from. They are all variations on a similar theme – tossing out Mortal Wounds! While each one has a slightly different ability, the key here is that each one provides some fun modeling opportunities for your army. If you were looking for an excuse to get creative on the hobby side, all of these artefacts present lots of new hobby challenges.

Picking a Realm your army is from is going to provide you with access to lots of new options and tons of hobby challenges – from new styles of thematic bases to modeling the artefacts on your characters. While you don’t have to take those extra hobby steps, it’d be a lot cooler if you did.

What do you think of the expanded Artefact List? Do you have a favorite item or Realm you’re leaning toward?
