Tabletop Spotlight: CMON’s Dragon Castle

2 Minute Read
May 30 2018

Pull the Dragon Castle apart brick by brick to build up your own in this modern twist of the classic game, Mahjong.

Dragon Castle is Mahjong with a modern twist. As tiles are collected, players place them on their own player board to build up their own castle, scoring victory points as they go.

During their turns, players can collect matching pairs of tiles as in Mahjong. However, Dragon Castle offers additional actions for the players. Among them, players can always discard any tile for free and gain a victory point for doing so. This won’t score as many points as building up your own castle, but it’s a great way to prevent the stalemates that are all too common in Mahjong.

The game comes with multiple variations of setup and added twists come in the form of Spirit and Dragon cards which offer special actions and goals for the players to use during the game.

As the Dragon Castle crumbles, opportunistic lords seek to lure people to their realm. By constructing a new palace from the ruins of the old, they hope to become the new center of power. In Dragon Castle, you take on the role of one of the lords. You will have to use all of your cunning to build a castle that will inspire people to move to your realm. Each turn, you can collect tiles from the ruins and add them to your construction. As you place sets of the same type of tiles together, you’ll be able to consolidate them, earning points and allowing for the addition of Shrines. You may need to call in some help with your efforts.
