Geekery: Patrick Stewart Steps Back into Picard’s Shoes in New Series

May 25 2019

The beloved captain – now admiral – is finally getting a solo series that will dig into his years of service with Starfleet Command. At this point, CBS hasn’t shared much on the plot beyond the voice over in this teaser. It starts up 18 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis. The series will get into Picard’s psychology more, and examine chapters in his life that we haven’t seen before… and some that we’ve gotten glimpses of in TNG. Long time fans may recognize the vineyard from “Family” and the series finale “All Good Things…”

Patrick Stewart leads a cast that also includes Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway. Hanelle Culpepper (Gotham, The Flash, Criminal Minds) is directing the first two episodes of the series.

Star Trek: Picard will be available on CBS All Access later this year.
