Summer is a scorcher folks–but just because things are heating up, doesn’t mean your D&D characters can’t stay cool with these handy spells.

Phew, it’s a scorcher out there folks. Another summer of record heat–we had the hottest June in recorded history, a massive heatwave wracked the globe, the ice caps melted just a little more, and in general our world was on fire, how about yours?

But just because we’re putting up with record heat, doesn’t mean your D&D characters can’t find a way to stay cool while having some fun in the sun. Here are a few spells that are sure to help out, whether you’re out on the beach or just hanging out at the park.

Cone of Cold

This one’s a classic summer treat that hits a wide area (60 ft.!) which is helpful for making sure that all of your allies are able to beat the heat. Comes in 36 different flavors including Strawberry Papaya and Mango-Kiwi Blast!

Ray of Frost

Baking in the sun? Use Ray of Frost to slow down and chill out. Sure, you can deal some damage to an enemy, but you can also just make sure your drink is always frosty, even when it’s baking out there.

Armor of Agathys

Alright, now it’s time to get a little selfish. It might be hot as hell outside, but with the armor of agathys, your caster will always be cool as heck, surrounded in a thin layer of frost from when hell froze over.

Watery Sphere

There is no better way to beat the heat than by escaping entirely into your own globe of ice cold water. As a bonus, this watery sphere doubles as a cool ride that you can control with your mind, making it the second best spell on this list.

Control Water

Speaking of cool water rides though–the absolute best spell is Control Water. Nothing else will let you have your own waterpark wherever you are. With this spell, the surf is always up, and your character is sure to make a splash at all the big dungeons near you. And remember, you can save a bunch of money on admission by saving the coupons from your soda cans.

Happy Adventuring!
