Get ready to take to the skies–Aeronautica Imperialis is coming for pre-order next week!

It’s here folks–we had been wondering where these models were. Revealed during Gen Con, teased months before, and now the time is here. Aeronautica Imperialis is back in a big way. Let’s take a look at what’s coming.

via Warhammer Community

Like most GW releases, Aeronautica Imperialis kicks off with a big boxed set. Wings of Wengeance is the starter set that comes with everything you’ll need to get in the game: the rules, a battlemat, and two squadrons of planes to crash headlong into each other.

Each set contains:

  • 2x Thunderbolt Fighters (these can also be built as Thunderbolt Furies)
  • 2x Marauder Bomber
  • 3x Dakkajets
  • 2x Fighter Bommers
  • 1x Rulebook
  • 1x Double-sided Area of Engagement battlemat

And of course all the dice, tokens, cards, and so on that you’ll need. Aeronautica Imperialis brings new rules and new minis to the table. It uses its own system (which we’ll be taking a look at later this week) as well as these amazing fighters on swanky hex bases. There are Thunderbolts:

Which can also be built as Thunderbolt Furies, a new variant that comes armed with an avenger bolt cannon. If you want heavier fighters, you can grab Marauder Destroyers and Marauder Bombers:

And that’s just the Imperial forces. They’ll be facing off against Orks, who bring their much-loved dakkajets, all with their own distinctive orky style.

Or get beefier and bommier with the Fighta Bommerz.

You might have noticed that there are plenty of ground-attacking options here. That’s because you’ll find a bunch of ground assets launching alongside the game.

These are introduced in the first campaign/setting/world for the game: Rynn’s World. Which introduces ground targets, defense turrets, campaign rules, and more, to Aeronautica Imperialis. It also contains the full rules for the game, so even if you’re not grabbing the starter box, you’ll be ready to play.

And if that wasn’t enough, you’ll also be able to get your own battlemat, called the Area of Engagement mat in this system. It’s preprinted and comes with a hexgrid on it so you can fight your battles on the best of all grids.

Finally you’ll also want to grab the card packs–these are your reference cards that will help you keep track of weapons and systems in the heat of battle.

All of this comes out next weekend, so stay tuned for more previews!
