Games Workshop released a new “Sneaky Dread” for the Primaris Space Marines – come look inside the new Invictor Tactical Warsuit!

Remember when Grey Knight players were excited about their Nemesis Dreadknight? It was basically a Marine in Terminator Armor inside an even bigger suit of exo-armor. Well, the Primaris Space Marines just told those Grey Knights to “Hold My Beer…”

Exo-Squad Reporting In

This new Invictor kit is actually a nice kit overall. It’s 3 sprues and all of them are fresh off the model-press. You can build the kit in a few different ways so you can customize your Invictus how you want – and it boasts a decent amount of shooting options, too. Personally, I think the idea of a Dreadnought-like walker that can infiltrate 9″ away with a 12″ range Heavy 2D6, Str 5, Ap -1 , 1 Damage flamer could be pretty mean…

The pistolized heavy bolter is also an interesting option – and yes it can be modeled in the hand of the Invictor as well. The special rule that allows it to use it as a pistol when it’s within 1″ of an enemy is at least flavorful.

If you liked the Redemptor kit, this one is similar in design. It’s a big, bulky walker that is (somehow) designed to infiltrate with your Phobos Armored Primaris Space Marines. GW says its some type of new-fangled sound dampening tech and in a game, with all sorts of technology and space magic that don’t exist in the real world I’m not going to let this thing break my suspension of disbelief.

I’m curious to see how the competitive scene reacts to this one. I’m also very curious to see how the hobbyist side of the player takes on this new dread. The kit has a lot of potential for cool customization and those big, flat surfaces scream “free-hand” to me. This kit will be up for Pre-Order from Games Workshop this weekend. I guess we’ll find out soon enough!
